coachbk: You could have made this a poll if you had clicked the "Make Poll" button instead of New Thread.
Want to try that and we'll delete this?
(I could do it, but it would credit me and not you.)

Actually I want to do it as a tourney and not a poll. I want to go through the rounds. Now I wish I could undo my delete. Question though, can you make it go to the top with JoeK song for the day?
Who most deserves the title of "5th Beatle"?
ROUND 1:
1-George Martin vs. Alan Williams
2-Brian Epstein vs. Allen Klein
3-Neil Aspinall vs. Dick James
4-Mal Evans vs. Murray The K
5-Stu Sutcliffe vs. Pete Shotton
6-Pete Best vs. Tony Sheridan
7-Yoko Ono vs. Billy Preston
8-Geoff Emerick vs. Norman Smith

8-Geoff Emerick vs. Norman SmithIs that a vote against Geoff or do you just like Oh Babe, What Would You Say? That is a vote against Mr Emerick, i think Hurricane or Normal was more important than Emerick.....especially the early era.... I'm not sure i'm familiar with his hit songs, maybe if i heard them again i could comment... ;D

There is only one guy on your list who actually was the 5th Beatle.
Obviously someone who actually was the 5th Beatle should deserve the title over all of the others who weren't.
(Oh, and although Stu was a Beatle, he was the 4th Beatle, he was never the 5th)

I'll always consider George Martin the true "Fifth Beatle".
Pete and Stu were once former beatles before the group became THE BEATLES.

ROUND 1:
1-George Martin
2-Brian Epstein
3-Neil Aspinall
4-Mal Evans
5-Stu Sutcliffe
6-Pete Best
7-Billy Preston
8-Geoff Emerick
The only matchup here that is even a question to me is Emerick vs. Smith. I went with Emerick because he was there at the beginning and the end (though just an apprentice to start) and he was the engineer for my three favorite Beatles albums, REVOLVER, SGT PEPPER and ABBEY ROAD. Smith was vital to the early success, but he was gone after RUBBER SOUL.
