So round 1 was pretty easy. The only one that wasn't unanimous was Geoff Emerick over Norman Smith in the battle of Beatles engineers. Round 2 takes a little more thought
1-George Martin vs. Geoff Emerick
2-Brian Epstein vs. Billy Preston
3-Neil Aspinall vs. Stu Sutcliffe
4-Mal Evans vs. Pete Best

Round 2 takes a little more thought 1-George Martin vs. Geoff Emerick 2-Brian Epstein vs. Billy Preston 3-Neil Aspinall vs. Stu Sutcliffe 4-Mal Evans vs. Pete Best Hmm. Not the way I would have paired these. I would have paired the musicians. 1- George Martin vs. Geoff Emerick - I realize that Geoff was crucial in those mid years but George set the stage, set the level of excellence. 2- Brian Epstein vs. Billy Preston - Again, Brian got the ball rolling. 3-Neil Aspinall vs. Stu Sutcliffe - I think someone else may have stepped up and did Neil's job. Stu was unique. 4-Mal Evans vs. Pete Best - I wanted to give this one to Mal so bad but Pete got them noticed, gave them a good rehearsal hall, brought them up to a level they needed to be to go further. You can't really say another drummer could have stepped in and did the same job. They couldn't find one, could they? They had to take Pete.

1-George Martin vs. Geoff Emerick - George was pretty much there the whole time. I still wonder how Let it Be (the album) may have sounded like had he done it.
2-Brian Epstein vs. Billy Preston - Brian was responsible for their initial fame. Billy helped out with one album.
3-Neil Aspinall vs. Stu Sutcliffe - Stu was the only real 5th Beatle (Pete was 4th at the time). But Neil was there right through to Anthology. I assume this is a "whole body of work" assessment.
4-Mal Evans vs. Pete Best - Pete played many more early gigs than Stu. Mal was a roadie who happened to occassionally contribute to music and appeared in every film including Let it Be.
Different match-ups could yield a different final four.

Sorry I missed Round 1 CoachBK. I was self-medicating.
1-George Martin vs. Geoff Emerick: Class vs "The Ass"
2-Brian Epstein vs. Billy Preston: Love both guys, but without Brian there would have been no need for Billy!
3-Neil Aspinall vs. Stu Sutcliffe: Not if Mona "Lot" Best was voting.
4-Mal Evans vs. Pete Best: To keep the peace.

I realized soon after I put out my original 16 that I should have had Derek Taylor on my list. I had him in my head, but when I put it on paper I spaced it. I'm not sure he makes it to this round, possibly he would beat out Billy Preston, but he would be gone by the final four I'm sure.
My own votes go to the same four as Fabfour (George Martin, Brian Epstein, Neil Aspinall and Mal Evans) for the same reason: their longer association with the group.

1-George Martin vs. Geoff Emerick - George Martin. The greatest creative input to the greatest catalogue of recordings ever, short of the 4 blokes themselves.
2-Brian Epstein vs. Billy Preston - Brian Epstein. The innermost of the inner circle, and the man without whom.
3-Neil Aspinall vs. Stu Sutcliffe - Stuart Sutcliffe. A Beatle. No matter how close, Neil wasn't.
4-Mal Evans vs. Pete Best - Pete Best. See 3 above.

Need someone to break the 3-3 Neil vs. Stu tie.
Others decided unanimous for GM and BE. PB over Mal 5-1

1-George Martin
2-Brian Epstein
3 Stu Sutcliffe
4 Pete Best
The last two were real Beatles, not employees. I don't downplay the importance of Neil and Mal to the group, but they weren't Beatles.
