3 -- A pleasant number. The best song off the generally loathsome PIPES OF PEACE album for me.

I'll say a 3 too. This is one where I like the Broadstreet version better but it was a good song.

Here are the lyrics...
There Is A Pain, Inside My Heart You Mean So Much To Me Girl, I Love You, Girl, I Love You So Bad
And If You Leave, My Pain Will Go But That's No Good To Me Girl, I Love You, Yes, I Love You So Bad
Well It Feels So Good, Sometimes It Feels So Bad This Is Worse Than Anything I've Ever Had
There Was A Pain, But Now You're Here And I Don't Fear A Thing Girl, I Love You, Yes, I Love You So Bad And She Said, Boy, I Love You Boy, I Love You So Bad
[Solo]
Girl, I Love You Girl, I Love You So Bad
Well It Feels So Good, Sometimes It Feels So Bad This Is Worse Than Anything I've Ever Had
There Was A Pain, But Now You're Near And I Don't Fear A Thing Girl, I Love You Girl, I Love You So Bad And She Said Boy, I Love You Boy, I Love You So Bad Girl, I Love You Girl, I Love You

3 A lot of people call this the best song on PIPES OF PEACE and/or one of his best ballads. I'm not one of those. I like it just fine (I gave it a 3) but I like a lot of other similar songs more (Warm And Beautiful, I'm Carrying, Baby's Request, Put It There, Little Willow, Somedays). I'd give all those songs a 4. From PIPES OF PEACE, I prefer the title song, The Man and Through Our Love. But it is still a good song. Very Smokey Robinson sounding.

As far as I'm concerned, this is one of his very best songs, with (for a ballad) some killer bass.

3. I always forget this was also in GMRTBS. I think Ringo drummed alone on this one.

3. Nobody can touch Paul when it comes to writing pretty melodies.

I swiched to the live action video. Was that cheating? I know we are supposed to be reconsidering the song on it's own merits. But the video is good too.
This is a song I forget about when discussing Paul solo songs that are as good as his Beatle songs. The backing vocals struck me as very 80's. But the rest sounded very contemporary. I love the strings that come in at the "There was a pain" line. Must be a 5th Beatle there. It has a great bass line running through it.
Not what I generally like to listen to, but it pulls me in. Paul at his best.
4.0

I give this a 4.0
A great ballad by Paul and Pipes of Peace has great bass throughout and well produced by George Martin.
Side 1 of Pipes of Peace is very very good, IMO.

Here is the awesome video for "So Bad" where Paul, Ringo and Linda look great(if a little overdressed). I never saw this video back in the day as I would have then liked the song better. Ringo was still in his drunk period but he looks very sober here, maybe filmed at noon or something. "So Bad" is another song I didn't like as a 21 year old because I though it too poppish but now I appreciate it much more. Same with "Arrow Through Me" from BTTE and then I was only 16 and cringed but grew to be fond of it. A song in this vein that I wish more of you would discover is "I Do" from Driving Rain. That is very poppish and has had an amazing life on easy listening music formats. It wasn't a hit whatsoever but I hear it played in stores and restaurants surprisingly often!

"So Bad" hasn't aged well for me. I liked it a lot better back in the day, but his falsetto vocals kinda annoy me (at least on this song). Like the arrangement through (good bass and drum interplay). 2.0
