Two other boards I'm on make use of a free online conference call where you can call in and talk to people, rather than text as in the chat feature on the board now.
Anyone interested in this??

This the first I've heard of such a feature. Sounds like fun, count me in!
I get the impression that people don't like chat rooms due to the typing. Say you've got six people in a chat room. By the time you type out a question or response to a question, you're off screen. It's frustrating. This conference call thing might be a better way to go.

And in a group like this, it'd be very enjoyable, I think.

Well, here's a number to put in your books: 623-218-1094. I use Skype (I have land line ability) so it doesn't cost me. Cell phones work, too. We need to have a random room number to meet in, because it'll ask for one when you call in. Let's go with 909. I just tried it and it was empty.
Only question is when.

So what's the best day?? And the time zone situation is something we'd have to take into account. Fabfour, you're nine hours earlier than New York. And London is four hours later than New York. Wow...

I'm game. Talking would be better for me than typing. JoeySelf and I once got on the Instant Message Board here and I would be responding to Joey's last question when he would hit me with a new one or vice versa.
I'll leave the time to others as I am pretty flexible, especially on the weekend. I am an empty nester so I don't have the hectic non-work schedule we once did when my stepsons played several different sports in high school.

The time zone thing is always going to be a problem with something like this. Just set a day and time and run with it. Whoever can make it, makes it. In the future, anyone can announce a chat on the main board at any time, whoever shows up, shows up. That's pretty much the only way to do it.

I'm definitely up for it. After 2.00pm EST would be better for me, because the international call tariff would be much cheaper.
Joey - sorry I misunderstood your message before, mate.

Joey - sorry I misunderstood your message before, mate. I think you did understand it--I was looking for a typing chat with whoever was in the room when I was. JcS

Wow... And I think Australia is fifteen hours in front. I've already been to work, had dinner and am aware that I've only one more day till the weekend! You folk on the other hand are just starting your day.

Brilliant! I don't know where the AbbeyRd site is beamed from but if it's New York it's 15 hours. 7.22am there and 10.22pm on the same day here...

You're 15 hours ahead of us.
