MMT is playing one night only at the very cool, but very far away, Music Box Theatre in Chicago, Illinois on Monday, October 8, 2012. I saw the restored Yellow Submarine there in 1998 or 1999, whenever that film was first restored. It was an awesome movie theater. I can't go on a Monday 130 miles one way for a film that is still the same poorly produced film, just in much better audio/visual now. I would if I lived in Chicago though. Have fun scousette! Another benefit of living in a big city.

I would suspect that in S.F., some in the audience for MMT might be under the effects of going to their dentist just like John, Cynthia, George and Pattie once were! scousette, perhaps you should avoid buying the homemade granola balls sold outside the theater! ;D

I have actually enjoyed MMT the last two times I watched it and that was even on some dodgy dvd I bought from amazon.com.
You'll have fun and will be the first person here to have seen it gloriously restored unless Steve has seen it through his connections.
It is always fun though getting impaired! Just don't drive!

Yeah, I may get impaired afterward at dinner. I'm riding the ferry home.

MMT is also playing this Sunday October 7th at the Cinema Arts Centre in Huntington NY, which is a place I've gone to now and then to see various "film revivals". In addition to the movie they'll also be featuring hosts Rob, Mitch, and Tony from THE FAB 4 Free 4 ALL podcast show.
Half of me wants to go and half of me doesn't. The movie's only an hour, and actually I think I'd be more interested in whatever the FAB 4 FREE 4 ALL hosts are planning. But if my nephew Alex was able to come along, that might make it more interesting. I still haven't decided.

Bummed out that MMT is not playing anywhere on the big screen on the Jersey Shore. I would have to schlep all the way into NYC to see it. Oh well. I'll settle for the 50th Anniv. screening of a digitally restored Lawrence Of Arabia showing this Thursday near my home in Shrewsbury, NJ. It doesn't have any Beatles music in it, but the score is pretty impressive as is the movie. I love old classics on the big screen.
And "Frankenstein" and "Bride of Frankenstein" is being shown on Oct. 24 on the big screen. That'll be fun!

Well, my nephew is very excited to go with me, so I guess I will be attending the 7pm screening of MMT at the Cinema Arts Centre.
Anyone around here from the area attending? Snookeroo? We can shake hands in person!

I texted my buddy SlyRose(a non-posting member here ) and he will catch MMT in Chicago next Monday at the Music Box Theatre. Mike, as the music of James McCartney enthralls and mesmerizes you, don't forget to shout out, "Hey Big Mac, play some hot electric stuff!" ;D

James plays guitar on Heaven On A Sunday on Flaming Pie - proud dad Paul's sleeve notes refer to hot guitar playing from the young Turk.

Yes and here is the exact text which was hugely embarrassing then and now for being so twee because there is no "hot electric stuff" on that song: "Paul’s son, 19 year old James makes his first guitar appearance on disc. Paul said, “I played the acoustic stuff and left the Young Turk to play the hot electric stuff.” When proud Dad suggested formal lesson, James’s response “Well, you didn’t, Dad.” echoed down the decades rom 1950’s Liverpool. Like father, like son. Or, as Paul puts it, “The saga continues…”

There is an electric guitar solo(s) for sure but it is not "hot." I haven't seen it listed in anyone's top guitar solo list.

I must say that I like the song and I like the Young Turk's guitar work in it - it is, at the very least, tasteful.

Some musicians can make a guitar sing with just a few notes, They don't need to be Eddie VanHalen doing hammer-ons. Great blues guitarists teach you how to do a blistering lead with only 3-5 notes. James' lead was very simple, but at least in my opinion it worked. That doesn't make him Dave Gilmour but Paul wouldn't put it on an album if it was crap. Before you say anything else, we're talking music not lyrics

Yeah, James was fine. It is nice. It is also something a half a dozen or more persons on this Board could play.
The whole joke was Paul's stupid words calling James "The Young Turk" playing the "hot electric stuff" while Paul was seemingly relegated to the cold or boring "acoustic stuff."
It was a twee quote that James, like any red-blooded young musician and son, probably hated! Paul could have said: "My son James, 19, debuts with me and plays electric guitar on this song. I am proud of him."
"Young Turk!?" James?! LMAO
