I think James' solo rocks pretty hard. I think Paul is calling James a Young Turk meaning he's taking over the family business, pushing the old guy aside.
He's proud of his boy's guitar work. Come on. Give him that.
But why are we talking about James in the "Who's going to the MMT show" thread and talking about the Fab Faux show in the James McCartney thread?

Because that's how we swing, debjorgo! Threads are a living, breathing thing, always morphing, always changing....not museum pieces! Of course, if we get too far off course, our Fearless Leaders will (gently) correct us!

LOL we did get a little far afield and that was my fault for a little subtle joke that vectis picked up on! The problem debjorgo is that other than scousette, no one has fessed up to seeing MMT on the big screen in this current reincarnation which is this Thread's point! We all have let each other down(except scoussey). ;D

As long as the thread doesn't go off on how great Pete Best was, I'm okay.

I'm so glad I decided to go to MMT last night -- it was a great time! There's a lot to talk about...
First, OldFred will be happy to know that, as my nephew and I drove to the Cinema Arts Centre, we passed the Paramount Theater which had a marquee advertising THE MONKEES IN CONCERT. So now I am seriously considering going to see Dolenz, Tork, and Nesmith if I can still get tickets to that gig. (One more Monkees tidbit: after the screening of MMT it was announced that one of the band members of the Monkees Tour was in attendance, which was neat).
The Cinema Arts Centre was packed with a full house (it's not a huge theater, but still..). The event was hosted by two members of the podcast FAB 4 FREE 4 ALL, Mitch and Tony. At the beginning they asked the audience how many had never seen MMT, and I was surprised that there were many that hadn't. The new DVD of MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR was truly gorgeous -- colorful and restored.
The audience laughed in all the right places, and believe it or not a big highlight was Victor Spinetti's drill sgt with his yelling, which drew a lot of laughter. I really think the audience enjoyed it and so did I -- as a matter of fact, this screening of MMT gave me a totally new appreciation for the film, and I think it's a lot of fun now. I am now a MMT Fan where I used to only tolerate it before. I was also able to notice all sorts of things I'd never seen before, with this image being so improved and on a huge screen.
Before the show they also screened a Beatles Cartoon, STRAWBERRY FIELDS FOREVER. And they played the "MAKING OF MMT" featurette before the show as well, which is chock full of rare new footage that even us diehard collectors with all our bootlegged material have never seen before.
A splendid time. I never enjoyed MMT like this before.
