It's not really a put-down on the Beatles. It's a put-down on the state of pop music and the people who listen to it. He's basically saying that we have to let go of the Beatles and find our (current generation's) own "Beatles." A band or performer that is good, plays instruments, writes songs, has good full albums, influences fashion, stands for something important politically, and so forth. Although he does seem to go back and forth with praise and damnation about the Lads, I think any perceived slagging off on the Beatles is really frustration about things being so pathetic today that a 50 year old band is still popular to a lot of people. No, the reasons The Beatles music is still very popular is because they made so much diverse, creative, great timeless music,50 years worth in only an amazing 8 year recording career! No other rock (or *any* band!) did this before during or since. And because as most people, most rock critics, and countless well known, successful, respected rock and other types of music artists still call John Lennon and Paul McCartney the two greatest song writers of the 2oth century, and still call The Beatles the greatest band ever, even over their own solo selves and bands! Just like the classical composers Beethoven, bach and Mozart,The Beatles great timeless music will always be popular including young fans, centuries later.

That's the problem with Glee and such. It may expose people to Beatles songs, but perhaps not to the Beatles. We've all said that Beatles songs will live forever, but at what price? Obscurity of the group? I remember decades ago someone reported that they were at a kid's birthday party. There was music playing and the Beatles version of I Saw Her Standing There came on and the girls screamed, "Hey, that's a boy band playing a Tiffany song." But it's not all either/or. Meaning, yes there will - and there ARE - youngsters who get into The Beatles, be it via GLEE or another source. Every generation there are always new fans. Less? Maybe so. But there always are enough, which is the main point. When I go to the FEST FOR BEATLES FANS 2014 in February to celebrate the 50th Anniversary, "I Can Bet" there will be plenty of young newbies in attendance who know and love The Beatles themselves. It doesn't matter how many or few there are worldwide; when they're with their own kind they are great in number. Who cares about the ones who think they're just a Tiffany-playing boy band? As a poster Reverendrock who is a rock musician,a reverend and a big Beatles fan so accurately said on a classic rock site 10 years ago, that anybody who knows The Beatles music history knows it's totally ludicrous to even suggest that they were ever a ''boy band''!They wrote plenty of great rock n roll songs from the start, and in their early days they were a great rock n roll, and pop and rock band who worked their a*ses off playing 8 hours from 1960-1962 a night taking speed pills to stay awake to do it in sleazy Hamburg strip clubs, and played in the Cavern for several years too. And their fake cleaned up image that Brian Epstein created for them was a total joke, like a pimp playing a priest! They were very wild in their personal lives even playing in Germany, they had sex with the strippers in the clubs they played in,and other German groupies, and in The Cavern, and even more when they were touring from 1963-1966 and many of these young women groupies were teen girls! Anyway, neddless to say and stress, they were *never* a ''boy band'' not even for a half of a second, they didn't even play one on TV.Some people have said The Monkees were the first real boy band because they were originally put together as actors although they were musicians too,to play a pop rock band.

Andrew Dice Clay Andrew Dice Clay was and is a total horrible sicl woman-hater and made this seem normal,''funny'' and acceptable! Andrew Dice Clay only created a stereotypical stage character. And for what it's worth, at many of his concerts you can see women in the audience eating up his act, and chanting every word of his jokes along with the "woman degradation" shtick he used to act out.

Just saw this and thought I'd share: The Dodgers will play host to Beatles Night and the Chicago Cubs Friday, August 26 at 7:10pm. A ticket package that includes a ticket to the game and a co-branded Beatles/Dodger 50th anniversary beach towel can be purchased exclusively at www.dodgers.com/Beatles.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Beatles performance at Dodger Stadium in 1966, the final year the band toured together. The concert at Dodger Stadium August 28, 1966 was the second to last ever tour date for The Beatles. The final time they performed together in the U.S. was one day later August 29, 1966 in San Francisco.
The Beatles/Dodgers ticket package includes a beach towel that features an image of the August 28, 1966 concert ticket. A pregame performance by renowned Beatles tribute band, The Fab Four – The Ultimate Tribute, will take place prior to the game on August 26 at approximately 6:00 p.m. The Fab Four – The Ultimate Tribute will perform the Beatles’ greatest hits including songs that were performed by the Beatles at their 1966 Dodger Stadium concert.
The national anthem will be performed by Brian Ray, lead, rhythm, and bass guitarist with Sir Paul McCartney. Ray has worked with an extensive list of artists in addition to his own solo career. Friday Night Fireworks presented by Denny’s that evening will feature a Beatles mix by “Breakfast with the Beatles” host Chris Carter. Fans are invited onto the field for Friday Night Fireworks presented by Denny’s immediately following the game.
We hope to see you there!
