I moved my comments from another thread to this more appopriate location if anyone cares to join in.
I respect a woman's right to choose what happens to her own body when only her own body is involved. I don't think its only her body in the case of abortion. Another life is involved. However, I would not demonize her or call her a murderer if she truly believes she is not taking a life. I don't know how one can come to that belief. But I really have a problem with those who use it repeatedly as a method of birth control. That is irresponsible and disrespectful of life. I can see making one mistake, but multiple times is just not right.
I don't have a great desire to repeal Rowe vs Wade. I don't like the idea of government getting involved in personal decisions. However, I would cut off Planned Parenthoold's funding for abortions. At the least there should be more of an effort by Planned Parenthood and other groups to fairly present the option of adoption. I would rather teach that abortion is a very last resort and that were are dealing with another human being's life.
Having said that, why, for example, in California recently, was a man charged with two murders when he caused the death of his pregnant girlfirend? If the courts recognize that an unborn child is a human life, how can you explain why the life lost in a abortion is different?
I believe there should be exceptions for rape, incest and the life of the mother, though the first two are really difficult to justify logically. It becomes purely emotional. I don't believe in paritial birth abortions or, what President Obama has voted for in the Senate--allowing a child that survives the abortion attempt to then be killed by the doctor.
Planned Parenthood should not get taxpayers money as long as they co-mingle their funds and are not clear about how they use the money. They claim they do mostly breast cancer screeening. The fact of the matter is that 51 percent of Planned Parenthood’s yearly clinic income – their only self-generated revenue source – comes from abortions. And many of the clinics do not even have facilities for breast cancer screening.
Planned Parenthood does one third of a million abortions per year. Almost 40 percent of all reported abortions committed in the United States occur at a Planned Parenthood clinic. It is by far the largest abortion provider in America. So I say make your use of taxpayer money non-fungible so that it cannot be used for abortions while claiming it is being used for "womens' health screening". If not they they should get no taxpayer funding.
