The Weather Channel in the USA has just said that Hurricane Sandy will most likely take a direct hit on either Monmouth or Ocean County on the Jersey Shore on Monday with winds of 70-80 mph and over 6 inches of rain. Monmouth County is where both myself and MikeV reside, so we will probably be without power for quite a while after Monday. They say it could be a week before power is restored. If the storm indeed hits us head on, most likely the ocean surge will send water up into New York harbor and lower Manhattan, so I bet Mass Transit will shut down and NYC will come to a standstill on Monday and Tuesday. They say this will be a historic storm, bigger than The Perfect Storm off New England in 1991 that the George Clooney movie was based on. Guess John's song "Rain" is the appropriate one for us here on the east Coast over the next few days?

Hey, to our friends here from the East Coast, be careful and God-speed!
I've got a step-son in Boston and while that city doesn't look to be in the direct path, we are worried sick. He seems to have that invincible attitude of youth but losing power for days or weeks makes all humble.
But you folks in New Jersey and New York(and thereabouts), be really careful!

Thanks to all for your concerns.
A lot of people are going to be homeless by tomorrow. We are on high ground but still expecting more dangerous winds. We are now getting gusts up to 60 mph. Some may reach 100.
And transit is shut down so I am home for now.
This is one of the worst storms to hit this area.

Breaking radio silence. My Mom and I are staying with my lovely Linda in NJ. Please keep in prayer.
Resuming radio silence.

We got hammered here on Long Island. Gut electricity back last night, after 6 days. Got internet/phone back tonight, after 7 days. And they're predicting a Nor Easter on Wed.

Great to hear from you Snooks! We haven't hear from JoeK yet but we're all glad to hear from you! Hope JoeK is next in reporting in. We've heard from MikeV and lowbasso.
