Awful explosion. Anywhere close to you JohnS? It was horrific and while not close to me, it happened very close to my youngest step-son's apartment and just my luck I was visiting them when the explosion occured! They live three miles directly East and we were watching the end of the Notre Dame/Boston College game when we heard a boom and their complex rattled pretty hard. It was disquieting how violent the boom and shaking was but it lasted a second or two. I thought it was airplane crash or earthquake. We ran out on their balcony and scores of other tenants were likewise on their balconies but we couldn't see the source. I left shortly thereafter and it was frightening to see the large number of emergency vehicles flying south on I-65 to the County Line Road exit which is the same exit my step-son is but in the opposite direction. This is my second run-in in 15 months with rather serious tragedies in Indianapolis although Saturday night I didn't experience it like I did at the State Fair for the Sugarland Stage collapse. www.indystar.com/interactive/article/99999999/NEWS/121112021/Indianapolis-explosion-before-after-look-damageThe authorities don't know the cause but natural gas was probably involved. A faulty furnace has been alleged in a home that seems to be the epicenter. The woman and her daughter weren't home but her ex-husband popped off and said the daughter complained that they had no heat the week before. Two are dead and many homes were destroyed, three immediately but over a dozen more are beyond repair.

Wow. How scary to be so close. Glad you and your step-son are OK. The step-son's girlfriend was freaked out! 30 minutes earlier the child who lives with his family above them jumped off the couch or something(as he is wont to do per Sam) and we commented at the time how that little kid could shake things. The boom and shaking we felt 30 minutes later was a lot worse and really rattled the place. For a second we thought that kid did it again but that quickly left our mind as the shaking was too severe for a child leaping about.
