As a lifelong fan, I'm proud to be able to draw attention to this new series that is happening over at Jamsbio.com. If you're not familiar with the site, its a great place for people to share their "music memories." Remember the first time you heard "Please Please Me" on the radio? Jambio allows you to share the story, and as you read other people's stories, you may just begin to realize that when it comes to music, many memories are universal! Anyway, one of my fellow writers over at Jamsbio has taken upon himself the task of counting down all 184 of the Beatles' original songs from 184 to 1. It has been an impressive feat and he's done an amazing job at it. Granted, the countdown is based on his opinion, and we all know that we may have very different opinions on what songs place where. However, his articles are just a jumping point, and we hope to spur discussion amongst the Beatle elite as to their song lists, their thoughts on the list and so much more. The series started today and will be running every day for the next month, give or take. Each day five new songs will be introduced to the list - be sure and stop back to see where your favorites place... and don't be afraid to be vocal, please! Getting opinions from Beatle lovers is what we're aiming for! The intro piece is here: magazine.jamsbio.com/2008/11/10/songs-184-to-180/And, Jamsbio magazine is here: magazine.jamsbio.com/Thank you all so much and I hope you enjoy the articles! All the best! I just read the first reviews and I'm not going to critique the order or comments or anything like that. You're right, there will never be a definitive list or essay. All are valid.
But, what has struck me is that these Beatles "clunkers" would be songs that other bands would have LOVED to have written and performed. Yes, even "Revolution 9" and "Honey Pie". I could hear early Pink Floyd doing "Revolution 9", early Black Sabbath doing "She's So Heavy", and even Ray Davies doing "Honey Pie".

Check out the next Five Choices. I know someone on this board will be angry as Long Long Long got picked!!
Truthfully this would be a tough job for any fan and I agree with a few but not all choices this guy has made. I think Hold Me Tight is weaker than most he has picked but....

We should have a contest to guess at which point the reviews become positive. Theoretically, he could go to Number 1 and not say ANYTHING good about any of the songs OR he could have started at 184 with a positive comment and built from there. His take is from the worst to the best. Therefore, since one cannot be in two places at once, there must be a point where he will go from the bad to the good. I wonder where that will be.

All very good points, especially Sayne... pretty much any musicians would have killed to have written any of the "lower on the list" songs! I do think its interesting that someone was able to do this though... I swear, past my bottom two songs (Rev. #9 and for reasons unknown, She's Leaving Home (which ever since I was a tiny little girl, I didn't like)), I don't think I could order any of the songs! So far the list has shaped up to be: 184. “Revolution 9” 183. “Honey Pie” 182. “I Want You (She’s So Heavy)” 181. “Yer Blues” 180. “Good Day Sunshine” 179. “Ask Me Why” 178. “Long, Long, Long” 177. “Little Child” 176. “Old Brown Shoe” 175. “You Know My Name (Look Up My Number)” 174. “I Wanna Be Your Man” 173. “Love You To” 172. “Why Don’t We Do It In The Road?” 171. “Magical Mystery Tour” 170. “Wild Honey Pie” magazine.jamsbio.com/2008/11/10/the-master-list/Please feel free to share your opinions on the Jamsbio pages! Tell 'em what you think! All the best!

I don't agree with him. But his preferences are his, genuinely held, and so are mine.

OK...here's my take -
184. “Revolution 9” -- agree. No matter how hard people try and argue its case as an abstract work-of-art, it's twaddle...and it goes on for ever!
183. “Honey Pie” - a bit unfair. Lightweight and whimsical, but not that bad.
182. “I Want You (She’s So Heavy)”. Actually, this is one of my favourites on side one of 'Abbey Road'. Bluesy and slightly experimental, it doesn't quite come off, but not bad.
181. “Yer Blues”. Decent enough song. Never been in love with the White Album version, but love the 'Rock and Roll Circus' version.
180. “Good Day Sunshine”. Brilliant song. Nuff said.
179. “Ask Me Why”. One of my favourites off PPM.
178. “Long, Long, Long”. A tad insipid (sorry Vectis) - it does lack something - but quite a pretty melody.
177. “Little Child”. Throwaway, but charming period song.
176. “Old Brown Shoe”. It rocks! On of my favourite Harri songs.
175. “You Know My Name (Look Up My Number)”. OK, this one's crap, I agree. Whatever it was trying to achieve - it doesn't really come off. Tiresome.
174. “I Wanna Be Your Man”. Laboured - not very pleasant.
173. “Love You To”. I quite like it. Hampered by lousy - and ungrammatical - title.
172. “Why Don’t We Do It In The Road?”. Really like it. Downright peculiar and crude, but it works!
171. “Magical Mystery Tour”. Mediocre and written-to-order, but I like the weird ending.
170. “Wild Honey Pie”. Can't really be judged as a proper song -- just a bit of oddball filler - nowt wrong with it, IMO.
SuperHans.

No Opinions on this list? Or isn't anyone taking a look? I think the Guy is a good writer and makes it interesting..although many of his choices are basis for arguments.
