There is currently on E-Bay an unsigned photo of The Beatles playing at Carnegie Hall in 1964 available for a ridiculous $72,000.00. BUT, you get free shipping at that price.....What a deal.... I enjoyed uploading and pasting the picture onto my computer for my collection at a FAB discount of $72,000.00 LESS than the asking bid. Did the seller think real Beatles photo collectors would do anything less?? Anyway, I had never seen any photos of the Carnegie Hall concerts before and thought there were none published in any Beatle books. However, I understand Bruce Spizer's book "The Beatles Are Coming" contains this photo in it? I don't have that book, so is this true? Are there any other photos of the Carnegie Concerts in existence? In any other Beatle Book? I am always on the prowl for any Carnegie ticket stubs (at the right price) and I looked at all those kids in the photo above and thought they all have a ticket stub in their pockets...Where are they now?? Do they know what those ticket stubs are worth???

I can't recall ever seeing a Carnegie Hall photo either so thanks Steve!. Wouldn't it have been awesome to sit in that "horseshoe" on stage that almost envelopes The Beatles. The fans up there look pretty subdued!

The fans up there look pretty subdued! And just one bored cop protecting the stage! Wow, this may have been another crowd where John Lennon could have told them to rattle their jewelry!

If you look closely, there is a cop on his kees to the right of Paul, and a cop (in black) on his knees directly behind Ringo, and two cops (in grey uniforms) on their knees on either side of Ringo. But the crowd looks so subdued, compared to the mania in the CBS Theatre when they did The Ed Sullivan Show. How cool it would have been to be sitting on the stage, on the side, down front, only a foot away from them while they were playing....

That Carnegie Hall show is really an odd bit of history. It seems to have happened quickly and then was almost forgotten, I suppose because there's no audio or video evidence of it.
I don't know how the Beatles could stand playing on stages like that to a bunch of buttoned-down kids and high-society knobs in suits and ties, waiting to string them up in the press. No wonder John later said he'd "sold his soul."
