I just got a chance to revisit this show recently... it was a lovely little hour or less of fun and music! Anyone else see it or remember it?

I saw it when it first aired and I thought it was fun. Loved seeing George narrate at the beginning, starting with a Rutles reference. I got a copy of the special long ago on VHS and I should transfer it to DVD. The show is just harmless fun and should be enjoyed for what it is.

Can't forget it, saw it as well in 1978....Loved George at the beginning of the show, and when Ringo came on with all those sexy girls...lol But most of all the biggest memory on the show, which has stuck with me since, is his single *Heart On My Sleeve*.......It has become one of my all time favourite Ringo (or Ognir.... ) songs...

I saw it on original broadcast and it was cool for me to see two Beatles up close. Solo Beatles on television for an hour like that was rather rare by the late 1970's so we took what we got. My favorite parts were George at the beginning even though it wasn't great acting by him either but just to see him and the end with Ringo's "live" performance. That was cool. Yet, the show itself was pretty bad with bad acting and writing. I was 15 when it broadcast and old enough where I sure wasn't going to do a Gomer Pyle fanboy and say, "Golly, I am so happy to see George Harrison and Ringo Starr that I will just pretend this is great entertainment." Nope, as a 15 year old I was a little nervous watching this with my parents as it was pretty dorky. Let's just say it was not cool stuff for 15 and 16 year olds across the Land in 1978, I think Little House On The Prairie might have been viewed cooler! The cool stuff to teens then would be the KISS TV specials from the same era even though those were horrid too but they freaked out the parents! It tanked in the ratings for that night if I recall. Keith Badman's book will have all of that info. I did register to win the cool car used in the show as Craig Stereo was a major sponser as you folks will recall but I did not win nor could I at 15. It is harmless fun I guess but I ain't going to sugarcoat it, it was pretty lame except for a couple cameos and the end.

I haven't seen it since it aired that night. I specifically remember George saying he was "a musician, not Mark Twain".

JSD - despite that it was not "cool" to watch in 1978, I think you may find it's more fun for you today. It is currently up on YouTube.
As always, Ringo is a natural comedian - I love the guy. I have a slew of outtakes from the show as well .... funny stuff!

Was this back when George was auditioning for the Saturday Night Fever sequel?

I don't think it was ever aired in the UK.

They offer rare glimpses into 1970's Paul and Ringo.

I guess I can look at it now as a fun "pop" video. But there would have been no room in the 3 channel TV schedule for a has been like Ringo Starr by 1978 on UK television.
Thank god he re-invented himself and got Thomas the Tanked in the 1980s.

That was Ringo and The Roadside Attractions! Dr. John on piano! That end of the show was awesome, very Let It Be where Ringo brings it all together for a live performance.
That magical pyramid stage was cool. What a shame Ringo didn't tour in the 1970's even with those albums. By touring he would have had better sales back then because record buyers were still Beatle people!
