Yes, plus whole Isle of Wight gig on deluxe edition. I hope their copy is better than the few songs I have from Isle of White. They're just some boot tracks I got somewhere on the internet.

Apparently the Isle of Wight has been remixed. I remember hearing George and Dylan doing a silly Yesterday, probably from the same session as the two I mentioned, and the previously released If Not For You.

Thanks Mark for the heads-up! I got notice of this release from bobdylan.com but I really was going to sit this one out but not now. I love the Dylan Bootleg Series but Bob is now playing that same game Paul, Ringo and all others do of having a super-duper version for huge bucks. For the first several there was just one version and reasonably priced. No longer.

"Wight", dear boy. I'm not a Dylan fan - far from it - but I may have to get this since I was in the audience.

Along with John, George and Ringo, an esteemed audience. I guess you had "got a passport".

You're really killing my will to fight my cd addiction on his. But $99. That's like twice the cost of four cds. I'll flip through the book once and be done. I agree with John. There should be a 4 cd only version for no higher than $60.

It was only bloody Dick Emery (aka Jeremy Hilary Boob PhD), in summer season, who used to roam about on the ferries asking people if they had their passports ready (for the sake of those who may be uncertain, you don't need a passport for the Isle of Wight).

Is that where George got the joke on Live at the BBC?

I thought it was very respectful. It's not like they made it into a ragtime-type of song a la Country Joe McDonald.

I only heard it once. Sounded very haphazard and bad. I'll have to check it out again.

Sayne, I just checked it out on YouTube and you're right. It's very good. He must have considered it for Self Portrait. The version I heard before had George singing poorly with him, like he was making fun of the song. I like this serious version alot.

Not that I don't understand George's sarcasm. Here he is with his idol Dylan and Bob suggests a Paul song that John and George were tired of!

Bob is not only a songwriter, he is a balladeer or minstrel, if you will. He is very appreciative of "song." He respects all writing traditions. He loves standards. Yesterday is a standard worthy of performance by anyone. To tell you the truth, I'd be willing to bet that Dylan probably would sing more McCartney songs than Lennon songs. Not because they are better, but because they are more standard.

Not because they are better, but because they are more standard. Just a year or two ago Dylan had great praise for Paul for the exact things Sayne is writing about: Paul's songwriting. That lead to the typical rumors that the two men would write/record/perform together! Yet Dylan writes a tribute song for John which still makes me tear up even though I don't quite get all of the lyrics.

Hey gang, PopMarket.com has the deluxe Another Self-Portrait for only $82.99 for the next 20 hours only. It is $96.29 at amazon.com. I bought it for the George stuff and to get the Isle Of Wight concert disc alone, knowing our vectisfabber was there, a naked, stoned hippie back then!

The Another Self Portrait boxset came Friday and that Isle Of Wight concert disc(Disc 3) is awesome. Imagine a whole Dylan concert where Bob sings in his "Lay Lady Lay" voice which was his smoothest voice ever. It is cool knowing what, 3 of the 4 Beatles were there AND our vectisfabber!
I cannot copy it though as I've tried five times using my NERO software. Does a disc say if it is copy protected? I like an extra copy for the car.

I just received my copy of the new Rolling Stone with Dylan on the cover. For those who have seen both this and the RS cover of the Boston Marathon bomber (I won't post it since we have sensitive people here), is it just me or is there a similarity? I think it's a pretty interesting coincidence. Check it out.

Except the only bomb Dylan is responsible for is 'You've Got to Serve Somebody" Actually, I love GOTTA SERVE SOMEBODY. As a matter of fact, SLOW TRAIN COMING was the first Dylan album I liked and owned, back when I was 17. So there.

I'm okay with the song and LP, but I heard rumors at the time that John Lennon had ripped it a new one, which turned out to be true.

Joni Mitchell did, too, or at least questioned it strongly and needed to find out where Bob's head was.

Dylan did a rocking Gotta Serve Somebody live on the Grammys that year. By the way, thw two songs with George on Vol. 10 are very enjoyable.

I saw this album, without the live concert, in Germany this week for standard price. Are all the ones including the Isle of Wight show super expensive? That would suck. I'm gonna buy this when I get back to Tokyo, I guess.
Dylan's performance of "Wild Mountain Thyme" was lovely at the Isle of Wight... sort of a bone thrown to the British audience.

In the U.S., PopMarket.com had the deluxe box(with the Isle of Wight concert disc) for $82.99 for 24 hours and it runs like $96.00 at amazon.com so yeah it is expensive with no DVDs but a pretty nice book. Four discs in all including the remastered(2013) "Self-Portrait" album itself which I never owned so at least I wasn't re-buying that album. I tried to burn the "Isle Of Wight" disc for extra copies for my car(wink, wink) with no luck. It is a really good concert performance though. For $96.00 you'd think we'd get the DVD of the show if it was filmed in its entirety.
