I just discovered this delightful computer animated fantasy film 'A Monster In Paris'. Originally made in France and dubbed very well in English, it's a animated variation on the 'Phantom of the Opera' about a mutated giant insect with a beautiful singing voice and musical skills who is befriended and protected by a lovely cabaret singer. Sean Lennon provides the singing voice of the giant insect and the songs in the film are very good and catchy. The movie has a nice romantic touch that adults should like and it's mixed with enough cartoon silliness to please the kids. Though not a big commercial success, the movie has gotten a lot of very favorable critical reviews. 'A Monster In Paris' is wonderfully entertaining and definitely worth checking out. Click Highlighted Link: A Monster In Paris Man, was Sean's voice high! I'm not cracking a joke- it is him on some of those parts. But it is actually a pretty delightful tune-reminds me a bit of the Mary Hopkins era!

Cool. I look forward to seeing it. Some of them Beatles boys are really talented and some not so much.

I started to watch it on Netflix. Cool CGI, that looks like classic animation, unlike the creepy people in the Shrek movies.

Delving more into 'A Monster in Paris', I found this audio interview with Sean Lennon talking about the movie, and he does some spot on imitations of some classic Warner Brothers cartoon characters: Sean Lennon 'A Monster in Paris' Interview LinkI found the French version of the 'La Seine' song from the original 'Un Monstre A Paris' film. The same actress, Vanessa Paradis, does both the French and English versions of the movie. Sean Lennon was the English singing voice of the monster Francoeur, the French Pop/Rock star M was the French singing voice. And this is kind of fun, Vanessa Paradis and M doing a music video of the 'La Seine' song. And I found this too, Paradis, M and Sean Lennon performing one of the film songs live. It seems this movie went under the radar, but it appears to be gaining a cult following. I've read mostly glowing reviews for it. I'm glad it's available for rental and purchase, and I hope at some point it does get a wider audience. I can't help but admit that I've fallen in love with this delightful little movie, and I'm more than happy to champion it.

Interest to note how much Sean Lennon has embraced animation since his dad John was not a fan of Disney and told Brian Epstein in no uncertain terms that no way would the Beatles be involved in 'The Jungle Book', and Disney ironically ditch that idea anyway since he felt having the Beatles in the movie would have 'dated' it. Lennon seemed to have soften his stance later with 'Yellow Submarine' and he and George even looked back with amused nostalgia at the Beatles TV cartoons. dailygurgle.blogspot.com/2007/05/beatles-as-vultures.html?m=1

I bought the CD and Blu-Ray after hearing the first song. I almost cancelled it after the second song. The live version is too long.

I'm a big animation fan and I've seen it several time so far and I've really enjoyed it. Mike has seen it too, so I'm hoping he can give another view on it. I also ordered the CD of the soundtrack which so far is only available in Europe and it has both the French and English versions of the songs. The majority of the reviews of this film have been very positive so I don't think you'll regret your purchase.

I started to watch it on Netflix, but decided to watch it with my family. So hopefully by the end of the weekend I'll finish it.

But, I've watched the LaSeinne video a couple of times and can't get the tune out of my head! I know what you mean, I love that song. I ordered the soundtrack CD which has the song in English with Sean Lennon and the French version sung by M. I want to hear it and the other music from the film on my iPod.
