I have just decided to make an ultimate Beatle love CD for my wife. There are some obvious songs to put on it: Something, Maybe I'm Amazed, Grow Old With Me, Every Night, Why Don't We Do It In the Road (just kidding). There are others that some would thing are romantic, but they really don't work, at least for married couples: I Will, Michelle. Looking at the Beatles Love Songs compilation CD is useful, but also useless (Norwegian Wood? I'll Follow the Sun? She's Leaving Home? Yesterday?) Given enough time I could think of 20-30 songs from the Beatle/solo catalogue, but why not get a little help from my friends, especially with the solo material. Anyone care to help me fill my CD? Remember, I'm hoping to get lucky after she hears it

My advice would be to go with some early stuff -- include a few pre-1965 songs. The 'A Hard Day's Night' album, in particular contains a rich vein of romance... I would say 'And I love her' and 'If I fell' are two slam-dunkers for your compilation.

If you are including Maybe I'm Amazed then i take it you are including Solo Beatles work as well.....
Is this cd designed to obtain the mood or to be used when the mood is obtained.....

Yes, as my post said I'm looking for any Beatle/solo song - leaning toward solo songs because I can pretty much easily remember the group songs and the group songs are now pretty much obvious. I'm not really trying to set any mood. It's really to express ultimately how much I feel for her. That is why SuperHans' suggestion of "If I Fell" does not work because it's not a matter of "if I fell" because I already have. That's why George's "Somewhere Else" wouldn't work, either. Both great love songs, but neither about being in love with the person one is ACTUALLY with. And, I'm not going to include a song that has the name of another woman: "Oh, Yoko" , "The Lovely Linda", etc.

A lot of George Harrison's stuff hasa a nice " light out candles burning quality that make it perfect for romance. Just a few would be....Learning HowTo Love You from 33 1/3 and Your Love Is Forever from George Harrison. Look deep into the George stuff!
Good Luck

My favorite Beatles Love Songs: Here, There, & Everywhere Yesterday Something Real Love I Will IF I Fell All My Loving In My Life It's Only Love For No One (If I want a sad one) The Long And Winding Road Hey Jude And I Love Her I Need You I was surprised it took so many posts to get "Here There & Everywhere" mentioned. I think that is one of the strongest love songs ever.

Thanks, everyone. Keep 'em coming. Just one comment on some of the songs. All the songs given are good songs and are helping me focus, but would one, for example, REALLY use "Yesterday" as a love song for someone who is with you now?
Reminds me of how "Every Breath You Take" is played at weddings when it really isn't a love song at all.

I wonder if sayne should use this one if the goal is romance with the little lady? It sounds so anti-Viagra.

Isn't the guy stalking the girl in that song ? You better believe it!! Yes, and I heard that's why Sting wrote "(If You Love Somebody)Set Them Free", as he was supposedly horrified at couples who would tell him, " 'Every Breath You Take' is our song!" I don't know if it's true or not, but it makes sense to me!
