I missed that a few years ago when 20/20 broadcast that. That interview of Pattie would not play well with Middle America, Pattie kind of flippantly leaving her husband for some dude who says he loves her and writes an overrated song about her. George says in a TV interview with Eric Clapton next to him while the two were rehearsing for the Japan tour that "Something" was not really about or for Pattie. George says he was asked by a journalist or someone if the song was about his wife and George rather humorously answers how was he to answer that? It looks bad if he says "no." He almost had to say that and I think George was saying it was just a song, he had maybe Ray Charles in mind performing it when writing it. Was Clapton an asshole or what threatening Pattie that he would take heroin if she didn't start seeing him! That should have been all the red flag she needed to stay away from Clapton. On the video for "Dark Horse" we see George actually take down the pirate flag Pattie raised over Friar Park to protest George's stern habits. I am always shocked about George shagging Maureen Starkey mostly because she was so butt-ugly by 1970. She looked like a goth druggie.

Maybe the best thing Eric ever did was to put together the Concert for George. Reading his book and Pattie's book, he is a jerk (and I'm being kind here).
But the Concert for George is majestic in its performances by musicians who worked with and truly loved George. That emotion is evident in every song they perform.
