Interesting! Not as bizarre as Jimi Hendrix opening for the Monkees, but I don't think Cliff and Morrissey have the same fan base...am I wrong?

Get them all together with Ringo on drums and then you'd have something.

Since Cliff never tours in the US, I think I would almost go to New York to see that show.

Thx for that info Sally, the news is also appearing on my Facebook site......Don't know how it's gonna go, I would have preferred him to open a Macca concert ( now that's value for money, both concerts would have went for 3hrs each, spanning 50+ years of music from them), but I'm dreaming?? I have heard of Morrissey and his old band from the 80's The Smiths?, but do not remember a hit from them.....I've tried playing a few Smiths/Morrissey Youtube clips, but haven't seem to like any? They all sound the same? Any fans of Morrissey here, who can post some of his classic hits?

Go for it Scousette, he'll be doing his Reelin & Rockin tour, where he performs 5-6 Rock 'n Roll covers from his new album, and the rest are all his greatest hits Saw him for the 4th time last year, the guy is amazing....Never seen a guy so fit for 73 yr old.....Dancing & Singing continuous for 3hr (like a little kid)....hope where all like that , when we get to his age..... Here's a classic for you (Scousette), Vectis & his Mrs , and JSD (lol) from his new DVD (performed on his current tour), the title from his 1963 film.......

Thanks Rocko! You are clearly the Cliff Richard expert on this Board, bar none! I think Paul should open for Cliff!

Morrissey cancelled several US shows due to a virus (same one Paul had?).
Cliff came to New York anyway and gave a free concert June 21 at the Gramercy Theater.

Perhaps the concert could be titled "Artists Who Were Inexplicably Massively Popular In The UK & Had A More Appropriate Level Of Success In The US"
I joke a bit because I do think both Cliff and Morrissey are OK, but I can't fathom the success they had in the UK.
Also on the bill: Slade and Oasis

Thx JSD, on Facebook I've become the Paul, Cliff expert lol.....Now on the *The Seekers* FB site, they've got me to become one of Admin's on the board.... If Paul opened for Cliff, I'd be first there......Both Sir's, Work Alcoholics, Legends, and Rock/Pop Gods....... Elvis, The Beatles, and Cliff Richard & The Shadows, will always be my top three artists (US Elvis on the left, UK Elvis on the right, with the Fabs in the middle....lol) Can't believe he's 75 next year, 55yrs in the Music business.... Love the sax, on his Little Richard cover below (something Paul, should take note of, for his own band?)

Thx Scousette, I was going to send a message here, letting people here know about it? Its a shame how Cliff Richard and The Seekers, are well known here in Australia & the UK, but don't do tours there (in the U.S), I suppose its vice-versa with Paul McCartney (concentrating all his tours in the States, very little in the UK, and hasn't been here in Australia since 1993?) Just for you Scousette, another Cliff milestone......Loved all the beach movies, in the 60's, Elvis, Beatles (Help), Frankie Avalon, and top it off, all the songs from the *Beach Boys*....... On The Beach - Cliff Richard & The ShadowsCelebrating Wonderful Life's 50th Anniversary: From Internet Movie Database: Wonderful Life (US: Swingers' Paradise) is a 1964 British film made as a vehicle for pop star Cliff Richard and is the third in a series of film musicals that included The Young Ones and Summer Holiday. Written by Peter Myers and Ronald Cass, directed by Sidney J. Furie, choreographed by Gillian Lynne, it also stars Susan Hampshire, Una Stubbs, Melvyn Hayes, Richard O'Sullivan, Gerald Harper and The Shadows. The movie was filmed in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria city in Spain, and the "desert" scenes shot on Maspalomas sand dunes on Gran Canaria island, Canary Islands.
