Maybe they can do some of those cool duophonic mixes on them.

Mine arrived in mail today.
Glaring editorial error in notes for Track 17 "Reminiscing";
"Here George delivers a faithful version of a track that (Buddy) Holly originally recorded in Clovis, New Mexico in 1958, but was then held back for release until after Buddy's death in 1962."
Probably meant to say "was held back for release until 1962, three years after Buddy's death?"
Look forward to listening to it.

It took me a while, but my copy arrived in the post today. As lowbasso and debjorgo have related above, three further Beatles' live set compilations are projected for release from OxTango in the future, according to the insert that came with the package. I have just read on the net that a documentary by Ron Howard covering the Beatles' live performances up until 1966 is coming next year. Surely Apple can manage to release some sort of live CDs/DVDs to tie in with this film?

Okay, from what I can tell, at least four posters here purchased the OxTango Star Club album. A friend of a friend of a friend read Steve Marinucci's most recent Examiner article about the new OxTango releases, three 2-Disc live compilations and one 3-Disc Nagra comp. They can be all purchased for $99.99. This friend of a friend of a friend immediately ordered it through PayPal from the OxTango site and later learned from a confirmation email frm OxTango that they are not out yet but "expected to hit the streets around September 20th." This person asked me to ask was your experiences all good with OxTango?

wogblog points out that there was no cease and desist action on the Star Club release. It suggests that this might be the Beatles way of releasing these tracks to ardent fans without releasing them to the general public.
I had no issues with my friend of a friend purchase of the Star Club and I quite like the discs. When I borrow them, that is. Some of the tracks weren't worth a second listen but I liked some of them better than the BBC tracks. They are guys playing for guys and not for the screaming girls who were the audience for the radio shows and who crowded their concerts.

No audience at all, female or male. I guess you're right about the Star Club male audience, though I've always found it a shame that the surviving recordings are all from December 1962, AFTER Ringo joined, and AFTER "Love Me Do"... sort of takes the historic value off it a bit, for me.

Thanks debjorgo for responding. So should my friend of a friend of a friend stay the course or should he/she bail and challenge that charge on his/her credit card which is essentially a pre-order of a bootleg.
September 20 is forever away!

LOL, I thought your link was going to say OxTango has been shut-down and all monies in hand seized by the government. This after I paid $99.99 for the entire new set to be released September 20!

Usually companies don't cash a check until they ship the items. Of course if they need bail money....

Also note that on the oxtango site, you can click the albums and buy them separately. I initially missed this. I may just get the Get Back stuff.

Well, I ordered mine yesterday. They said it was in the mail. So here's hoping we get them before they are shut down. The question is though do Taylor or Jefferson even have a claim after the lawsuit? I can't answer that for sure, but I would think not. Joey Self? Sorry, I haven't been following this thread. But even if I had, I wouldn't be able to add anything to it. I haven't researched any claims of the ownership of the copyrights, or for that matter, the litigation in the '90's. I researched only the Lingasong suit, and the effort to keep these tapes from being released officially in '77. I got an email from Ted Taylor, or someone purporting to be him, telling me that I had my facts wrong and that I should have contacted him. I replied that I didn't contact him or do any other research because the scope of the article didn't require it. I wish I'd saved those, as I'm now fairly convinced that the writer really was Kingsize. JcS

Even though the site is down, you can send an email to OxTango to see what's going on. I just sent a message, requesting more information on the CDs . We'll see if I get a prompt reply:/.

Here's the prompt reply that I received from OxTango....
Trying to work out some licensing issues at present, but hope to be able to proceed as scheduled upon their resolution. Appreciate your interest and will be providing details on the OxTango website (http://oxtango-music.com) once the present situation is resolved.

I would quite like to get this edition, but I haven't seen it in Tokyo yet.
You wonder with modern digital technology if the sound-quality couldn't be drastically improved now. Maybe in five years or something, Apple will release this officially.

Oxtango's website has been up again for a while now. Has anyone's friend received correspondence? Oxtango charged my friend's credit card account instantly, not at time of shipping as reputable companies do, shut its website down and missed the release date, so my friend disputed the charge, prevailed on the disputed charge with his credit card company and was credited the full charge. He didn't get the product but not disappointed after flirting with crooks.

The Oxtango site is down again. Their Facebook page relates "certain 'outside parties' are currently making it difficult to conduct business." Your guess is as good as mine as to what this precisely means: perhaps Apple preparing the way for upcoming Beatles' live material later in the year? That's what I'm hoping. Always the optimist.

The cool thing was that Oxtango was attemping to apply the most modern technology to crappy or non studio recordings. The bad thing was (is) their fly by night approach. Simply shady...

I bought a bootleg in Tokyo last weekend called "Where Have You Been All My Life?" (after the obscure Star-Club song that was missing for years from the releases). It's beautifully packaged, and pretty awesome. The first two discs are the complete Star Club tapes -- including the banter between songs, 'Where Have You Been All My Life', 'Red Hot Sheila' (and all the complete tracks, without edits such as on the Star-Club semi-official LP), and even 'Hully Gully' by Cliff Bennet and 5 songs by King Size Taylor.
(Following this, the bootleg then has random live tracks and snippets from 1963 and 1964, mostly in poor fidelity.)
Anyway, giving it a cursory listen last weekend, the Star Club tracks sound really good. Better than two previous editions I had downloaded (this is the first time I've actually bought it in physical release).
Anyone seen this one, or have it?

Just thought I'd resurrect this thread. I bought the original Lingasong double album as soon as it was released in 1977; there was always the possibility that The Beatles would get an injunction to stop its sale. It's still in my vinyl collection and is is near mint condition as I didn't listen to it very often. To quote George Harrison "The Star-Club recording was the crummiest recording ever made in our name!" I had heard excerpts the previous August when I attended the first ever Beatles Convention here in the UK. Allan Williams was there with the tapes. I seem to recall that the early marketing hype was that it was recorded when Pete Best was still the drummer, but he was ill that night and Ringo deputised for him.
