That's a great recording of George speaking (above), but he obviously changed his mind a lot. Here, he says, "They're all very simple"..."I don't think they need much." Then, a year later he hired the world's most overblown record producer (Spector) to do a ultra-reverb, massive wall-of-sound, storm-the-gates-of-heaven type of production job. And the finished product achieved #1 chart status in numerous countries. George completely nailed it on this album, in all facets, well, except for the Jam on the 3rd album, that should have been dumped in the same bin as Revolution 9 and Mumbo.

I agree, they are all jams in C- no chord progression whatsoever. You really can't even call them instrumentals. I do like It's Johnny's Birthday though. At least Mumbo has some structure.

But fellows, "Mumbo" kicks major ass! When society as we know it collapses(and the end is at hand) and we go back to being very primal, "Mumbo" will be the new human anthem but only played on vinyl on those old hand-cranked record players(except for those like me with diesel operated generators in our bunkers).

I will, if you like. If only Macca could import the quality of voice he wasted on that tripe to his current output.

Look, you don't need to convince me that All Things Must Pass is good. I'm a major fan of the album, and of George's work in general. It's probably not a very intelligent perspective to start every response from the "Offical George Apologist" perspective (see also: RTP as the "Official Paul Apologist", and Joe as the "Official Yoko Apologist").

I'm not the only George fan on here though, i think there's at least 2 others.... I'm a George Fan. (and a John - and Paul -- and Ringo).. I love most of George's solo music as well. In my case he's just my least favorite of the four if I were to list them. And I don't think he was all that great a lead guitarist. Still, I love his music and songwriting.

I think panther, this time around, was baiting, and, he got a reaction. They all had a part and they did it a s well as they could. Speaking of which, i find it almost absurd that John got to the top of his craft and yet, he couldn't keep time, how does that happen

Paul WAS a fine guitar player, and originally played guitar in the band. He also assumed the position of John's equal very early on in the band - even after he (Paul) brought his young friend George into the band. I don't think that position of somewhat "authority" Paul had ever completely disappeared. That's probably part of what made things happen like Paul playing lead on TAXMAN. What added to that IMO is that George seemed to kind of back-off and become a very disinterested in fighting for a bigger place in the band. he even backed off on his guitar playing, which he admitted later on. Maybe in some ways he felt a bit intimidated by Paul. A lot of people do. The man is talented beyond belief.
I can't imagine any sort of "crap" going on during the planning of the CFG. There was nothing but the desire to truly honor George's memory. I'm sure George shared some bitter feelings to Eric back in the day (before EC stole his wife) about Paul. Clapton also knew how much more love there was between them that far outweighed the bad vibes.
Didn't George ultimately die in a house belonging to Paul?
