Thanks, that was cool.
I am getting a kick that "A Day In The Life" is getting played live by Paul and now Neil. I wonder if newer acts are doing it live too?

I know that Neil is close friends with Paul, but I find it interesting that Neil would do a John song, seeing has how John had not so kind words to say about Neil back in the late 70s.

An interesting choice. I wouldn't expect to hear 'A Day In The Life' performed by Neil Young in concert in a million years. Very good performance, though.

Neil did "Imagine" on America:A Tribute to Heroes right after 9/11 reaaally well, too . I especially love his " imagine no possessions, I wonder if I can" lyric change. And oh yeah sayne, where did John diss ol neil.??.I don't remember that....but then I have ingested great quantities of delicious beer over the years, and I may have just forgotten...

. . . where did John diss ol neil.??. It was when Neil did "My My Hey Hey" and sang the line "It's better to burn out than to fade away". John disdainfully spoke about Neil being a person who has faded away a bunch of times. Keith Richards said as much a few years later.

A great take by Neil on ADITL!! Also that line "Its Better To Burn Out Than To Fade Away"..I always had a hard time with that. Not sure I quite get what Neil was saying so I can see why John & Keith had a hard time with that line too. Is he saying it's better to be Remembered than Forgotten? If so then I agree. What is everyone elses take? I think Neil is an incredible artist & like the greats many of his lyrics are up for interpretation.

The lyric..."Its Better To Burn Out Than To Fade Away" could be looked at in several ways...here's my take... "Its Better To Burn Out"... like a shooting star. In other words, to go out while on top of your game. It could also be a drug reference but I don't think so. "Than To Fade Away"...like an aging Rock star, part of a dying generation no longer relevant in today's Rock scene. Wikipedia has an interesting take on this phrase.
