True Love Wilbury Twist Someplace Else You can find all these videos on www.youtube.com. Warning, however: The quality of "True Love" is not very good on the ones I have found. Please judge the video itself, not the quality of the copy that is on the internet. JcS

In order to generate some discussion: How many of these three videos did you see for the first time while playing this game?
I had not seen any of these before researching for this tourney.

This poll needs to move to the George forum.

There has been a long running understanding that tourneys can start here, in the heavier traffic section of the Board, and then later Steve or I will move them to the Tourney section once the Round closes.

It's time. We're in Group 7. Everyone who is interested knows about it by now and will know how to go to the George forum. Also, this "long running understanding" was made to placate those who never or seldom go to the other threads. Well, they should not be accommodated. If people do not go to a George Harrison forum and miss a poll, contest, piece of information, and what not, that's their fault. It shouldn't be put in a Beatle thread just so people will see it. What about those of us who go to the Beatle forum, hoping to read and discuss Beatle stuff and forced to scroll down to a non-poll topic. There are now about 5 in a row to scroll down.

I must have forgotten to wear my Private in the Beatles Army uniform this morning.

I vote for Wilbury Twist as long as it is the full video with all the cameos and not just the one with only John Candy and Eric Idle. It is the only one of these I have seen before. Also the poll seems to be missing on this round!

Yeah, that's a real first-world type of problem we should all be spared. But good news--this time next week, all those threads will be somewhere you won't have to scroll past to get to...well, whatever it is that is here when those aren't there to scroll passed. JcS

Closer to a real first-world type of problem is hitting the "see all recent posts" function at the bottom, and then having to scroll through all the Harrison Tourney posts. Thankfully, so few participants are bothering to play that it's not too inconvenient. As to the question of who is seeing these videos for their first time here: I have seen all of them, and I already own all of them on legit and illegitimate DVD's (doesn't every self-respecting Beatles Fan?).

I completed my voting for the 33 1/3 vids by picking "True Love" this time.

Wilbury Twist, by far. Have seen all three at some time in the past. However, I might need to reconsider my vote. During the 2nd verse, where George has the lead vocal he is nowhere to be seen (at least in the video I watched, which was labeled 2007 version.) My guess is this video was re-released when the Wilburys box set came out. I seem to remember more Candy and Idle in the original version, but could be wrong.

I wasn't sure which video of Someplace Else to watch. I went with the Shanghai Surprise version. I also went with it for the vote.
(I'm wondering if putting the link to the page is alright? You get a link to click but not the video.)
I hadn't seen True Love. It was a whole lot better than I expected. George had all of his video mannerisms from that period. Very fun to watch.
Wilbury Twist always seemed a little like a novelty song to me. It rocked more than I remembered, though.
Someplace Else is maybe my favorite Harrison song. It's very soulful. I believe it could be covered by one of the crooners of today, Justin Timberlake comes to mind, and become a major hit.
