Paul Revere & the Raiders had a quite a few hits and made mnay albums. These are the highlights for me: The great early hits in a "garage band" vein with "Just Like Me" and "Steppin Out". One of the earliest anti-drug songs with "Kicks". "Indian Reservation was a big hit and added more social commentary. "Melody For An Unknown Girl" was a unique (and melodic) song.
They were marketed as "America's answer to the British Invasion". They couldn't possibly live up to that hype, but they did a credible job. A "Best Of" from this band makes for a very enjoyable listen and they were fun on stage too!

I certainly know "Indian Reservation" but other than that all I ever knew about them was their zany Revolutionary War outfits. I always get them mixed up with The Buckinghams.

I would think you would have heard Kicks. "The kicks just keep getting harder to find. The kicks just keep ...." Catchy tune. Lindsey also had a hit with Arizona. "She must belong to San Francisco, she must have lost her way." "Arizona, take off you rainbow shoes..." or whatever it says.

Also, Paul Revere and the Raiders was the band that had Keith Allison, rumored to be the real William Campbell because of his resemblance to Paul McCartney.

Lots of American groups of the time tried to have a British influence with their name. Think also the Beau Brummels and the Sir Douglas Quintet. The Beau Brummels were the best of that lot. They were a lot more than just their two great hit singles ("Laugh Laugh" and "Just A Little"). They were "folk-rock" before it became a genre.
