We got back home last night after almost a week at the Fest. I'm still recovering, but the Fest was a blast. Indications are, though, that it won't be back next year because the attendance was weak. I hope that's not true. Met a ton of people. Was interviewed on KLOS-FM Radio by Chris Carter on "Breakfast With the Beatles" and was interviewed as a Fest guest by Al Sussman, plus participated in a couple of panels. After the Fest, on Monday, we went by the Arnold family house from "The Wonder Years" (looks exactly the same!). On Tuesday, we went to the Warner Bros. lot and took the tour (highly recommended. .. better than Universal's). The biggie, though, came Tuesday night. We had VIP seats for a taping of "The Big Bang Theory". Got a tour of the set (sat in Sheldon's spot!) and met Kunal Nayyar, Kevin Sussman (Stewart), Simon Helberg (Wolowicz) and Koothrappali's new girlfriend. Got a lot to write about. Here's one pic from the Fest .. Chris Carter of KLOS on the air Sunday a.m. interviewing Denny Laine.

Thanks for the report Steve.
As to attendance, did the crowd seem thin to you? Hasn't L.A.'s Fest always been less crowded than NYC's and Chicago's?
I first went to the Beatlefest in Chicago in 1979 and it was awesome, good crowd but everyone was cool. John Lennon(and of course George Harrison) was still alive and there was still talk of reunions.
The 1980's saw the Chicago Beatlefest attendance grow dramatically but the crowds were not so cool, they became aggressive, collect-at-all-cost jerks in my opinion. The 1990's saw even bigger crowds in Chicago but the fans didn't seem quite as much money-grubbing assholes as the 1980's.
The Beatles may not be cool enough for L.A.

They definitely were thin Friday (and as I recall always were), John, but much better Saturday. And Sunday night was good, too, though not as big as Saturday. Their mood was pretty positive, but the dealers weren't selling a lot of rare stuff like they used to, though I wasn't really looking. There were bootlegs if you looked hard enough. I really didn't need it since I had most of the tracks in mp3 form, but I couldn't resist the four CDs of Rockband Mixes on silver discs with Apple logos. Also bought a great looking DVD of "The TNT Show" and another of Paul Revere and the Raiders.
