CBS Sunday Morning, this morning, had this teaser: "Next week, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and....Bruce Springsteen? Next week on CBS Sunday Morning." No explanation, just the teaser. Guest on CBS Sunday Morning are Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr. Bruce is also a guest, probably a different segment.

Access Hollywood did a review of the movie as well.
His co-host asks "For someone like you who's seen everything that the Beatles has done, what makes this so special?"
"Well A LOT. For starters, there's actual footage of Candlestick Park. That makes this a holy grail. The live stuff has been cleaned up. LOOK AT THIS! It's fantastic!"
The follow up story was on Star Trek. (Stay with me here.)
"Ten days after the Beatles last concert, 50 years ago, Star Trek premiered." They go on with a story on "For the Love of Spock."
At the end of the story, the co-host says "Scott, you give the best reviews! You've made me so excited about these and I'm not even a fan. Of Star Trek. Beatles, yes!"

Along with The Beatles clip on CBS This Morning was a story on Bruce Springsteen's new autobiography book coming out Sept. 27. For those of you living around NJ (MikeV) Bruce will be signing copies of his new book at The Freehold Mall Barnes & Noble on Tues. Sept. 27 in his hometown of Freehold, NJ. Looking forward to it since I grew up three blocks from Little Steven VanZandt in Middletown, NJ and heard him practice with his first band The Shadows three house's up from mine while I took guitar lessons from the band's leader, Buddy Norris after I saw The Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show. I have to say The Shadows sounded pretty bad in those days....So did I on the guitar..... But Steven found another guy in Freehold to hook up with and made out pretty well...

Thanks for the links, lowbasso. I also found this one on Riccie Johnson. The story was a repeat shown this morning. She did the makeup for the Beatles on Ed Sullivan.
She used a little eyeliner. Black and white TV. You needed to see their eyes.
She tells a story of meeting Paul about 8 years ago. Paul remembered the conversation from '64.

I'm sure the place will be nuts. I've missed him at random places by seconds-never saw him in person, even live-had strep throat the one time I had tickets. Not sure I want to deal with the crowd.

CBS Evening News just ran a story on the Beatles. It made mention in the intro and at least one teaser.
"Today is the 82nd anniversary of the birth of Brian Epstein (Scott Pelley pronounced his name like Frankenstein.), the legendary manager of the Beatles, who lead them on the greatest road trip in rock history, now documented in a movie, rolled out over the weekend."
Paul and Ringo talked about the Beatles touring years and Shea Stadium in Abbey Road Studios in London.
"The Beatles would never play a live gig again," concludes Anthony Mason.

I just happened on a scene from tonight's Dancing with the Stars' (DWTS) Cirque du Soleil show. The star couple was dancing to Come Together. The song was badly edited. I hope it is not that way in the new show they are doing. One good thing about cable boxes and DVRs these days is you can rewind live TV.
The Beatles Facebook page had actually did a post saying Cirque was going to be on DWTS. So earlier, I'd flipped it on for a second. I saw immediately that it was not a Beatles' centered show. I went on watching what I had planned for the night.
I didn't know who the star was so I ran it back. It turned out to be Babyface. I should had known him. Mia culpa (my bad).
Babyface said he got to perform one of his favorite songs, Come Together. "The cool thing about doing the Beatles' music was I'd got a chance to meet Paul McCartney and actually got to work with him."
I know Paul used to do the song Babyface. No wait, he didn't.

Extra last night did a blurb on Eight Days a Week. "Rare never before seen footage of the Beatles!" They used a Paul quote "We all started to get pretty fed up." "In theaters now."

A show called Better Things on the FX network, uses Mother as it's theme song. I've only seen one show and there is only one left in the series run but you can watch it on demand.
The title is from a Kinks' song and it is created by the star, Pamela Adlon and Lewis C.K. The show I saw had Joe Walsh as a guest star.
It may be a little too risque for some of you guys.

From the new MacGyver, a few weeks back:
"...He lost everything when the Soviet Union fell. Since then, he's been trying to restart the cold war."
"So you're telling us this guy wants to go back to the USSR?"
"Don't you dare start singing."

The Oct 21st episode of Hawaii Five-O uses John Lennon's Beautiful Boy. The episode was about gun violence. I was waiting for the "life is what happens while you're busy making other plans" line. But they skipped it.

Extra showed the promo for Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets during it's closing credits. It uses the vocal "aaaaah"s from the Beatles' Because.
The movie stars Cara Delevingne. She attends a lot of Stella McCartney fashion shows. A very gorgeous girl. (Careful with your image search. She's done some pretty hardcore porn photos.)
Also starring Rihanna. Another Beatle connection for her and the movie.
(fyi. I intentionally use "it's" as a possessive not as a contraction. I believe this is correct regardless of what they say.)

Madam Secretary from 10/16/16 had this:
The ambassador to Algeria says "But last Wednesday, I wasn't working for president turncoat Dalton and his little Yago-esque puppet master Elizabeth McCord", the later referring to the Tea Leone character.
"I thought you liked her" comments the ambassador's wife.
"Oh she had me fooled. ...but she's just a blonde Yoko Ono, making the administration over with her kum-ba-yah, peace on earth baloney!"

CBS Sunday Morning's story on Lady Gaga mentions her stopping by the Lennon's memorial in Central Park on a warm fall day. She says that she used to come by there four times a week. She was so inspired.
Maybe John's bagism led to her meat dress.

I'm watching a Criminal Minds episode from Nov/2/16. It had a commercial for Walmart that uses Come Together. It has a female singing (of course not the Beatles' version). It has people sitting at various diner tables, including a table with vets ("you're family to me"), on Thanksgiving Day, giving thanks.

This morning, CBS This Morning went to the commercial playing HELP! Upcoming stories were on a story about shrooms helping with depression in cancer patients and a story about the zika virus. I'm not sure if they thought they had a tie-in or were just playing a good tune.

From 48 Hours tonight:
"I would had done anything for Pamela. It happened so slowly that you don't even recognize this growing thing inside of you. That one day you wake up and say 'I will kill for this woman.'"
"By the end of this manipulation by Dr Bookbinder, Jake had become weaponized."
"They hated each other. And in turn, she made me hate him. She had already told me she wanted me to hit him over the head. Playing like Maxwell's Silver Hammer by the Beatles, repeatedly."
48 Hours plays a sound-alike version of Maxwell.

CBS This Morning did a story on James Taylor this morning. Of course they mentioned that James was the first act to be signed by Apple. The reporters tell James that it was said he looked like a cowboy Jesus. James said he was trying to look like George Harrison.

Tony Bennett Celebrates 90 airs December 20th on NBC. Paul was at the Rainbow Room gala to celebrate Tony but I don't see any mention of him being on the TV show. It's seems like I did at one point but now, Buble, Franklin, Gaga, Billy Joel, Elton John, Stevie Wonder...; nothing on Paul.

Paul and Tony did one duet together, the Very Thought of You, released as a single. Tony may have the inspiration for Paul's standards album.

On Seth Meyers last night, two elves didn't want the spot they were doing to be aired so the said "Quick, sing something expensive so they won't show it". They began to sing Yesterday.
They sang it out of sync. You could barely tell what they were singing. They probably got away with not paying.

Been almost a month!
On the Saturday Night Live repeat tonight from Nov 18th, 1989, Dennis Miller was doing the news. "This week, Ringo Starr, won a court order in Atlanta barring the release of a solo album he made while, quote "Under the influence". Arista Records fear this incident may force a recall of the entire Grateful Dead catalog.
Saturday Night Live was shown in network prime time, so I guess I'm okay citing it.

I just stumbled on a show called Teen Kids News.
They were doing a spot on the Beatles.
"Although this rock band broke up a long time before any of us were born, we all know their music. In fact, just about every performer today, from One Direction to Katy Perry, have been in someway influenced by them!" Apparently Liverpool was the home port of the Titanic.
Segment one introduced the Beatles and Liverpool and took us down to Strawberry Fields where the reporter wrote something on the gate. She couldn't resist.
"When we return, we visit the place that put the mania into Beatlemania. Teen Kids News will be right back. It won't be long!"

Catching up on the Simpsons, from Oct 23, 2016, Krusty the Clown used the "I'll sing a Beatle song so it'll be too expensive to air this" gag before Seth's elves.

On Entertainment Tonight from last night, Paris Jackson believes her dad was murdered. Michael told his daughter that people were out to get him. He owned a song catalog that was worth hundreds of millions of dollars. He was concerned that people were out to get their hands on it.
"The 18 year old also blames concert promoters for her dad's downfall." Quote: "They drain them dry and work them to death."
So... I'm a little confused. Are these the same folks out to kill him and get his catalog?
"So... Paul. You want us to work him to death? We can do that!"

From last night's Extra, Justin Bieber News: "And on the drums, Justin Bieber? J B making a surprise stage appearance, showing off his percussion skills, at the Peppermint Club in West Hollywood. The pop star playing back-up, as his buddy Andrew White belted out a cover of the classic Beatles' hit Come Together!"

On Jan 29, 2017's Madam Secretary:
The cabinet is looking at a sect that is trying to ignite the events of the biblical book of Revelations by giving mass destructive arms to Islam extremists: "The bible is pretty crazy man." "Part of Revelations' enduring power is it's intense imagery and symbolism. That's why every age has it's own interpretation." "The opening of the fourth seal releases what?" "The four horsemen of the apocalypse." "And the four horsemen represent?" "Eh... John, Paul, George and Ringo?" Of course that may be more of a Charlie reference.
