Nothing really to say, other than I created the thread because I was surprised no one else cared to do so.

I think people care but RIP Threads in general get watered down with some dubious "celebrities."
Jack Bruce though was truly huge in the world of Rock. I have a good friend who is as upset by JB's recent death as I was for George Harrison's(John's murder is in a whole different category because of the horrible criminal aspect of it). She actually followed his solo career more intensely than his few years in Cream.
Topics discussed on this Board rarely get raised in my "real" life but my oldest stepson texted me with the news of Bruce's death Saturday night, October 25th at 11:23 p.m. because he still remembers fondly seeing Jack Bruce play bass and sing classic Cream songs(and one solo song) at the Ringo Starr and All-Starr concert I took the family to on February 26, 1999(got to love setlist.com!) in Merrillville, Indiana.
This is my oldest stepson and he went to this concert thinking he would hate it because he was 14 years old, that age where you don't want to go with your parents to a concert but sometimes must(both boys had to go and I bought the "dinner and a show" tickets so we had a nice, formal dinner right before in the theater's adjoining restaurant). He really, really enjoyed the entire concert and Jack Bruce was his favorite performer that night.
So when my stepson texted me this news with a brief remembrance of the concert, that made Jack Bruce's death even more real to me and saddened me but it also reminderd me of a long ago wonderful evening.
I also saw Jack Bruce play with Ringo in 1997 and that was really good because the guitarist was Peter Frampton and those two guys gelled very well together(Todd Rundgren was the lead guitarist in 1999 and he did a very nice job but I thought that Frampton was better on the Cream material).
RIP Jack Bruce!

RIP Jack Bruce! I was fortunate to see Jack Bruce the first time I saw Ringo in 2000, from the forth row of a theater-up til then my closest to anyone big. It was a highlight of the show for me, and he was full of energy. He was a shell of himself by the time he finally reunited with Cream a few years later.

Did you see Cream on their reunion tour, Mike? Buy the DVD of the reunion. It is worth the money. Especially now.

I couldn't do it. I do have the DVD lowbasso, I agree it is worth having, but Bruce was way more animated with Ringo before he became very ill. It is too bad they didn't reunite sooner.

Just read that Strawberry Fields Forever was sang at his funeral. Didn't know the song had any significance to Jack.
