I know most of you really dislike his version of With a Little Help From My Friends (I think it's THE best version), and many of you don't have a taste for his style, but I think he is one guy that people have forgotten who deserved a Hall of Fame induction. I think he, along with Richie Havens, were given short shrift. www.yahoo.com/music/joe-cocker-dies-at-70-105887125291.html

He did a nice version of Beware of Darkness late in his career.

RIP Joe! Add me as someone who likes Cocker's WALHFMF better than even the Beatles version! It is so soulful whereas I always hear Ringo just trying to get through it as best he can and not get corrected by Paul, John and George. Ringo is very soulful on "Matchbox" but he sounds distant, deadpanning on WALHFMF. Joe Cocker makes you feel like he is actually talking to a real person as he sings it. He does go over the top at the end but I love how he sings the verses and that intro is so cool, I love when his vocal first kicks in.

Loved him in Julie Taymore's movie "Across The Universe" as well. His Woodstock appearance was legendary.

My joke with Cocker's Little Help is that if is busting a gut that hard because he's got a friend, think what he'd be like if it was a girlfriend.
My favorite from him was She Came in Through the Bathroom Window. It really rocked.

"Joe Cocker took a Beatles song and turned it into a soul anthem. We'll remember him when we come back", was the teaser tonight as the CBS Evening News went to commercial.
They said Cocker will be remembered for his version of With a Little Help From My Friends. They quote Paul McCartney as saying it was mind blowing.

Also of note, Cocker's biggest hit, "You Are So Beautiful" was written by Billy Preston.

Is it me, or did he always look like he *really* needed to use the bathroom? ;-) But yes, RIP, Joe...
