see I told you guys earlier in this thread that it may have not been Paul but Kanye who made the song flop, by giving examples (videos) of Kanye's arrogance and it looks like the duet flopped but Paul's track became a hit.. that seems to indicate that it was Kanye who caused the single to fail..to be honest with you I think people have become tired of Kanye's ego..

Sadly, a number three placing on Billboard's Hot Singles Sales for Hope For The Future does not seem sufficient to deliver any listing on their Hot 100, unless it is to be directed to the next weekly chart.

I agree that Only One's flop is attributable to people who are tired of Kanye's ego. I have just listened to the newly released preview of Four Five Seconds and once again no noticeable Paul unless he's playing guitar or he can be heard on the full track.

I got the Rihanna song. I had to really work to find it. I couldn't find it in iTunes by searching Paul, Kanye or Rihanna. The link above kept trying to get me to download iTunes, which I already have. I finally saw the I"I already have iTunes link. It's now a marquee item at the top of the iTunes page.
It's my favorite Rihanna song of all time. I like it better than that Umbrella ..brella ..brella ..brella song.

It's my favorite Rihanna song of all time. I like it better than that Umbrella ..brella ..brella ..brella song. Seriously? I like most of the Rihanna songs I have heard over the past few years and would like to buy this song, but it is not available on Australian iTunes yet. What's worse is that the audio on the laptop I normally use has failed, so that I can't even listen to the tune at the moment. When I do download it from iTunes I can then burn a CDR of it and play it on home stereo equipment, or in the car; but it is a public holiday here on Monday, so I am fearful I won't get it until Tuesday.

Yeah, I went to get it and it's not on our store yet. I ended up finding a stream of it, and that'll suffice for the time being. It's not the 'bop' or 'jam' lots of fans were expecting, and I could do without those off backing vocals in several parts but nice to hear all the same. I assume it's Paul on guitar. It's definitely not my favourite song by either Rihanna or Kanye but good on them for branching out a little and doing such an acoustic track! Had to laugh at that promotional image of them all in denim. So cool. Hasn't been confirmed but there's some speculation saying Ye's whole album is going to be co-produced by Paul. www.hotnewhiphop.com/kanye-west-s-next-album-will-be-entirely-co-produced-by-paul-mccartney-news.13734.html?gallery-24976-photo-1

Had to laugh at that promotional image of them all in denim. So cool. It is awesome: All the articles where you could get a free listen to "FourFiveSeconds" have had the videos shut down. I also wondered about the articles out today claiming that Macca will produce the entire Kanye album.

. . . John WAS a genius, while Kanye is not. Now, this is just my own opinion . . . That's fine, I won't argue against that. But, as an aside, it's interesting that more men at the top of their game and more non-"people of color" who are at the top of their game are thought of as geniuses than those who are of the "other." Really. I've heard Einstein called a genius, but not Marie Curie. Picasso, but not Georgia O'Keefe. John Lennon, but not James Brown. Fred Astaire, but not Bill Robinson. Just my limited observation. So you're playing the Race Card, are you? I think that Stevie Wonder is a Genius. And guess what? He is black. I do not think that George Harrison or Eminem are geniuses - and guess what? They are both white. Just because you (and others who think like you) tend to view people in terms of their colors, please do not go around charging others with likewise judging people by their colors.

I think these two collabs are fine. My favorite Rihanna song is Cheers: Drink to That. I blast int all time in my car and sing along to the chorus. Fun stuff.

I don't think the consensus will dispute the FACT that the term "genius" is less applied to women and minorities. If you don't think that is true, then you are limited in your world view. If you think they are applied equally, then prove it.

If you think they are applied equally, then prove it. You're the one who's made far more out of this than is necessary, or was ever intended. Why don't you prove that I think Kanye is not a genius "just because of his skin color"..? Oh, of course now you'll say that you never said those words.. but the truth is, that is precisely what you believed, and it's the very reason you brought up 'The Race Card' at all in connection with my opinion. (Your "as an aside" side-step didn't cover that up). I think Oprah Winfrey is a business genius -- and she is both female and black. Happy yet?

I put on my headphones to listen to Only One and I'm not a hater anymore. Does the bad autotune disappear when you put your headphones on instead? Seems to me that many older songs (including The Beatles, obviously) sounded just fine, even on "puny" transistor radio speakers. Let's face it, it's about the quality of the song itself. If it's good, then it should sound fine even when heard on 'puny computer built-in speakers'.

For those it's relevant to, FourFiveSeconds is now available on Australian iTunes. It just took a little while.

Thanks for posting this correction. I hate it when journalists like C Vernon Coleman (not Steve Marinucci)publish misleading information without checking their sources. I suspected that the report may not be true.

"FourFiveSeconds" has entered the Billboard Pop Radio Chart at an incredible #37 after less than two days of release (no word yet on Hot 100). It's massive on urban and pop radio, netting over 1,000 spins in 24 hours.
It's hit #1 on iTunes in over 30 countries, and is currently #2 on iTunes here in the U.S. It sold 125,000 downloads in the first 24 hours of release ("Only One" just passed 195,000 in two weeks of release. "Only One" has also been climbing on urban and rhythmic radio.)
Rihanna is a scheduled as a performer on the Grammys and it's almost certain this is the song she'll perform (maybe with Paul and Kanye?) She may also drop the video on the same day, which would almost certainly boost the song to #1.
As a side note, it's really sweet to see how excited the fans on Kanye's forum are about Paul getting another number one (he's credit as both performer and co-writer on the track). They've noted that the 51st anniversary of "I Want to Hold Your Hand" is coming up and want Paul to have the #1 on that date.

If it's good, then it should sound fine even when heard on 'puny computer built-in speakers'. I have a theory about that. I contend that the music of your youth was tuned to your ears, or perhaps the other way around. It was to your taste. Therefore, any song that came out at THAT time would have a good chance of being heard positively by you regardless of how good the speaker was. TODAY, most music is not your music. Sounds, arrangements, auto-tune, whatever are foreign to your ears. Thus, when you hear it, it will not sound good - even if it's a good song. That's why most parents of our generation did not like rock and many kids today don't like oldies, either.

Kids today like 50 year old music much more than I did in the 1960's. I mean music from 1910 - 1920 was not even played on the radio back then. I did not like anything before the rock and roll era. Big band was all over TV in the '60s, variety shows, commercials ...etc. I hated it.
I've heard, I don't know how many kids in the last twenty years say "Today's music sucks". Thus us in real life, not just comments on youtube Beatle videos. There was a lot of crap on the radio in the '60, 70's 80's, but there is no way I would have said "Today's music sucks". I thought is was great.
Of course I'm talking about pop music. There are a lot of new bands out today that I like a lot. Rihanna's new song rocks.

I finally got to hear "FourFiveSeconds" and liked it a lot. It is like Soul Folk. Very good.
It would be cool if there was a performance video of it so we could see what Paul is contributing, even if all were lip-synching and pretend playing we would get the gist.
This is good. I didn't mind the ballad sung by Kanye but this one is better.

If this song goes to #1, it would not be a Paul McCartney song; it would be a Rhianna song, with Paul just happening to be playing on it. As much as I want Paul to have a final #1 hit, I want it to be on his own merits, for a song like "New" or "Hope For The Future".

So if I hear some cRap today on a really good sound system, this will compensate for me, and I will suddenly like it? Not in a million years.
