This is simply a great song.
When George finally recorded it solo with Spector it worked out great for him.
Paul's tribute at the Concert for George is a truly fitting tribute and also another great version.
For some reason the Beatles couldn't (or perhaps wouldn't) ever get it properly together in a decent take to make it close to anything that could be released.
I've mentioned this before. There is a version of ATMP from the Get Back sessions where Paul opens with the first line of the song - "Sunrise doesn't last all morning".
John comes in - "A cloudburst doesn't last all day"
Then George takes up "Seems my love is up and has left you with no warning"
The band then appear to struggle on the harmony and further lines. It falls apart in less than a minute.
Believe me the execution of it is terrible. But I could really imagine this working as a properly produced Beatles track and it may have even surpassed George's version.
I can't find a version of it on YouTube. But the idea was important not the result.
