Good for Yoko, reaching 82 years of age, and still seemingly in good shape. It's pretty pitiful that no other fans have wished her well.

It's pretty pitiful that no other fans have wished her well. Joe, Yoko is not the only one here not getting wished on her BD (check out, all the past BD - Threads for the fabs, and you'll see there ain't many replies?).....I mentioned this topic before, and the reply was "whoever was celebrating the birthday, is never going to see it anyway, so why bother??On my Facebook site I have several Beatle groups/message boards (I see also Steve, Joeyself etc), and there are several (my screen is flooded?) with pictures and messages wishing Yoko a happy birthday, you get one or two who are against her, or post Cynthia pictures instead, but 80% love her (so you can relax?)

Yoko never wishes me Happy Birthday. I quit asking her to parties too. Why ask if you know she won't show up?

Why not change "Yoko Ono" to "Olivia Harrison"?

Why not change "Yoko Ono" to "Olivia Harrison"? Yoko is the more famous Beatle widow. Telling this joke to non-Beatle nerds, they are more likely to get it.

Geez lowbasso, I heard THAT ONE like a week after the assassination And Joe...um...still falling on the sword for ol' Yoko? Hell, Yoko is revered like Brian Epstein these days compared to mean old Heathen Goldiggin Mills.... (ducking from the impending wrath of JSD...)

The Mills woman had her fair share of jokes, too. So did Linda.

The Mills woman had her fair share of jokes, too. So did Linda. Mills made McCartney miserable, and Paul divorced her; but Yoko made John happy, and he wanted to be with her. I don't see that Linda ever got it as bad as Yoko, from the 1960's til today. Bottom Line is, this was intended as a "birthday thread", and not the place for customary Yoko Thrashing.

And Joe...um...still falling on the sword for ol' Yoko? Why not? John loved her and wanted her, and wouldn't appreciate her being bashed in what was supposed to be a celebratory birthday thread for her. You don't seem to be too bummed out about it -- are you still falling on the sword for The Beatles' Breakup, and thus are still happy to be smiling at Yoko jokes? There's a perfectly good reason for that. Mike, as I just explained to Vectis... in the case of Heathen, she was not good to Paul, and Paul fell out with her and wanted to divorce her. So there is no "respect" due her. But John's life was improved by Yoko (whether selfish Beatles Fans liked it or not) and he loved her -- big difference.

And I hope he doesn't get offended by my comment about old jokes-as I was just goofing there too (though I really heard a similar joke about a week after it happened). I just don't think Yoko is as disrespected anymore, but of course she will always have her detractors. Most bloggers know this, and as long as it doesn't get too derogatory, I doubt it will ever stop. If she wants to still cackle into a mic and call it music, then have at it! I have no problems with the structured B52 type of songs, but yayayayayaya for fifteen minutes....well those jokes won't stop and yes I'll laugh at jokes pertaining to that. But yes Joe, I lose sleep nightly to the fact that Paul and Ringo won't put on mop top wigs, get Sean and Dhani to do the same and tour the world. They can do it again gosh darnit!!!!

And Joe...um...still falling on the sword for ol' Yoko? Hell, Yoko is revered like Brian Epstein these days compared to mean old Heathen Goldiggin Mills.... (ducking from the impending wrath of JSD...) I have invited Heather Mills to join this Board but so far I have not gotten a reply. I think the air would clear on a lot of issues if Ms. Mills posted here. I hope Yoko had a great birthday! Remember Joe, Yoko long ago offered support to both Heather and Paul, realizing that Paul was hurting from a divorce but so was Heather and Yoko knows that a Beatle wife gets no slack from the media and the press, at least Beatles wives who speak their mind!
