We had the 3 Queens here over the recent holiday weekend (Mary, Elizabeth and Victoria) on the Mersey to celebrate the Cunard lines 175th anniversary. They passed the King's Dock in formation where Paul played in 2003. And tonight the King returns to Liverpool... well at least Paul does anyway. Unfortunately the tickets were a bit on the pricey side this time around so I am not there. But the Liverpool Echo is covering the concert via Twitter feeds from people at the Liverpool Echo Arena tonight. Live from Echo Arena TweetsApparently Macca opened with with 8 days a week.........Let's hope his voice lasts out.

38 numbers. Not bad for an old git with no voice.

"Let Me Roll It" with "Foxy Lady" outro, no f-ing way! Come on, next you are going to say there were fireworks for "Live And Let Die!" I know it's hard to believe. But yes there were pyrotechnics involved during a certain Bond theme!!! Roger Mortis has certainly not set in on that baby. And I am certain that people in various areas of the arena were asked to join in the chorus to Hey Jude. Many of them were singled out as Paul proclaimed "You were great!". Or maybe he said "You were grating"?

38 numbers. Not bad for an old git with no voice. The local reviews have predictably been very good. No one up here is going to have a go at Macca. Paul is the only Beatle who ever returned regularly to Liverpool and his homecomings are always welcomed. However he has had decent reviews for his London Shows. It seems this time he stuck to the same set list he'd used for the rest of the UK leg of the tour. He does like a solid script but when Paul played King's Dock in 2003 he added in a few oddities like "Baby Face" and a sing-along "Yellow Submarine" dedicated specially to Ringo in a 4 hours set. His voice may be suffering more these days. But as long as he's still "Out There" and people are enjoying it then Paul will carry on doing what he loves most.

He sings one Nancy song, one Linda song, and at least three Jane songs. No Heather songs! I call upon Sir James Paul McCartney to pull from The Macca Graveyard of Unloved Songs "Your Loving Flame" and "Heather!" No song written by any songwriter conveys the pure joy of new love as does "Heather!" Likewise, three classic songs from Flowers In The Dirt need to be saved from Paul Purgatory: "My Brave Face," "This One" and "Put It There." Those kicked ass live in 1989/1990 but Paul "One and done" 'em!

The best we'll ever get is him perhaps singing "Let it Bea" or "Three Legs" from RAM Totally agree on Flowers in the Dirt. It's not a massive favourite of mine but it's production is almost flawless and those songs listed are worthy of inclusion in a set list. Maybe he could play them with Elvis? Mr. Costello is still alive and well and touring the UK at this very moment.
