Yes, I have heard of John Pizzarelli and like his music. John, who is a smooth jazz artist, played guitar on Paul's KOTB. John released an album of Beatles covers called John Pizzarelli Meets The Beatles in 1998.

Yikes! I just played the "Silly Love Songs" cover and I thought that it sucked HUGE ones! Sorry, Paul people, I hated Pizzarelli doing Macca!

Wouldn't Paul people hate this album more if it sucked? I wouldn't say it sucked, but it wasn't anything I'd be interested in. I couldn't imagine this guy doing Hi Hi Hi, which he apparently does on this album. I'll take Laurence Juber, although I haven't bought any of his albums either. I do have his Private Dick, a song he recorded with somebody named Preston Reed. I have it on a Fingerstyle Guitar disc.

Have to love the multitude of tastes of music on this board.....
I think Pizzarelli plays an accoustic guitar, plugged or unplugged, beautifully and his singing voice is quite pleasing. I love the "Midnight McCartney" album and it is perfect for sitting in front of the fireplace on a cold winter's night with my wife and a nice bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. His easy jazz style is very soothing to the ear. McCartney's songs chosen here are perfect for that style of music. His eclectic use of harmonies differ often from Paul's original chord progressions which give the songs a little different flavor. My wife heard the album and flipped! She really likes it even more than I do.
I don't think most of the Beatle songs Pizzarelli chose to cover on his "John Pizzarelli Meets The Beatles" album work in his style of jazz, other than "Here Comes The Sun", "And I Love Her", and "The Long & Winding Road."
I would be willing to bet Paul likes this album a lot. Didn't he encourage Pizzarelli to do it?
I want to hear them done in a nightclub atmosphere. I am hoping I can find him in a club in NYC somewhere doing the McCartney Album live.

Wouldn't Paul people hate this album more if it sucked? No. There are some Paul fans, they have a name, who get very irrational and defensive about anything concerning Paul. Since Paul is the greatest musical genius who ever lived according to them and since his music is so great, even a caveman playing it with saber-tooth tiger bones would sound amazing.
