Nice find there. It's not often noted what a fan George was of soul/pop music -- John and Paul were too, of course, but I think they leaned more towards tougher R&B, whereas George really loved Smokey Robinson (whom he later sang a very good song about). George co-produced Doris Troy's album on Apple. The influence of the black-gospel sound is pretty obvious on "My Sweet Lord". Extra Texture was sort-of George's contemporary 'soul' album.
(Who knows if he tipped off Michael Jackson...)

Wow, your post was hilarious lowbasso and thanks sayne for sharing that video! I love two artists as diverse and talented as George Harrison and Michael Jackson sitting down and talking intelligently about the hits of the day.
