He claims he's just getting rid of stuff he doesn't need, but it makes me wonder,too....ah, well, they're his toys! I wonder if Steve is going to the auction?

What's broke for an ex Beatle, down to your last 20 million pounds ?

I doubt he's broke. He probably realizes he's running out of time, and wants to unload a lot of stuff. And it's an added bonus if he can get a lot of money in the process.

True but there are his children who might want a part of their father's legacy and what about donating the musical stuff to the RRHF which bent its rules for Ringo(at the urging of Sir Paul) or some gear museum in Liverpool! Now uber-rich collectors will hide these away and the only ones who see them will be their sex-slaves.

Ringo flogs his recent photo book in this interview with CBC (Canada) a few months ago (filmed in L.A.):
The usually awesome Peter Mansbridge -- the voice of Canada, say I -- asks some pretty bad questions, but at least he knows not to attempt shaking Ringo's hand.
What I don't get is why Ringo makes such a piece of trying to flog his book. He makes "humorous" plugs during the interview, and indeed says the only reason he's doing the interview is to promote the book.
Then, when Mansbridge asks why Ringo's touring and if he needs money, Ringo counters with a nonsensical put-down to Canada along the lines of, "If I needed money, I wouldn't tour Canada." Poor Ringo is apparently under the impression that Canada is a third-world country.
Interesting bloke, he is.

LOL, we all know that if we see Ringo we must bump elbows with him, and that's only if he is in a good mood. Ringo looks great and sounds great(as good as he has ever sung) but I am afraid that he is one of those Rock Stars completely out of touch with the real world, completely gone. He wasn't once and I like to hear him talk of those days when he wasn't an untouchable Rock Star.
At least Ringo is benevolent, he doesn't hurt anyone by his aloofness and privilege. This is a good video and the photos are great!

Apparently the proceeds are going to charity.

Apparently the proceeds are going to charity. The book's net sales or the actual auction net proceeds?

Steve M. reports on Facebook and Examiner that Ringo's artwork(I guess stuff drawn by Ringo himself) is drawing little interest and little $$$$.
All I know is I want the "Hello Goodbye" drum-set!

Wow, Ringo's auction got 9.2 million dollars or 6.1 million pounds! www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-35019638The highlights per this BBC article: $2,110,000 - Ludwig Drum kit, used on hits including Can't Buy Me Love and I Want to Hold Your Hand. Went to Colts' owner Jim Irsay. ◾ $910,000 - John Lennon's 1964 Rickenbacker guitar, which he gave to Starr in 1968 ◾ $790,000 - The White Album, numbered 0000001 ◾ $179,200 - George Harrison's 1962 Gretsch Tennessean guitar, given to Starr by Harrison's family after the Concert for George concert following Harrison's death ◾ $179,200 - An 18 carat yellow gold Moonphase watch by Patek Philippe ◾ $125,000 - The back panel from John Lennon's psychedelic caravan, featuring the Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band logo ◾ $115,200 - Ludwig silver sparkle drum kit used in the 1967 Hello, Goodbye video ◾ $106,250 - A gold ring with rectangular sapphire that Starr says he wore during every show he ever played with the Beatles ◾ $100,000 - A gold and onyx ring, which was also worn for every single Beatles show. How about that 0000001 Mono White Album going for $790,000.00? What do you think about Ringo selling George's 1962 Gretsch Tennessean Guitar, given to Ringo after the Concert For George? I know a gift is as binding as a contract for money paid in transferring ownership but that is kind of crappy by Ringo in my opinion. Maybe that should have been gifted back to Dhani or Olivia!

Great stuff! Maybe Ringo can donate some of these millions to the poor and starving millions in Canada, a country where a touring artist doesn't go to make money.
Maybe he can have a charity concert: 'The Concert for Canada', by Ringo and friends, to save those poor miserable bastards.
I love Ringo, but he has this weird habit of coming out with strange insults to people, countries, cities. The Canada thing is relatively minor, but what about his laughing when asked if he'd ever live in Liverpool again a few years ago -- right after he played Liverpool as part of its 'European City of Culture' title? That was pretty bad.

Before I read the last paragraph, I was thinking the same thing...and he (Ringo) complained how people would sell his autograph on eBay...
