Not to be morbid, but we were talking on another thread about the John tribute and the dearth of peers being on it. Brought to my mind how lame these Beatles-themed tribute shows often are. When Paul is gone, there certainly will be a tribute concert. Boy will it be bad with. But, let's make it good, at least on this board. If there were a Beatles tribute, I would want to see these people:
Paul Simon Bob Dylan Eric Clapton Mick and Keith Brian Wilson Bruce Springsteen Ringo (of course) David Gilmore Dave Grohl Pete Townshend Neil Young Dhani Harrison Sean Lennon Julian Lennon Elvis Costello Ozzy Osbourne Donovan Marianne Faithful Denny Laine
Paul's current touring band as the "house" band.
These were my immediate stream of consciousness in one minute's time. Who would you want that I did not list?

I think Paul is in pretty good health and may be around possibly another 20 years, a lot longer than many of the people you listed. So I don't think we need to be concerned about a guest list at this point in time.

David Cassidy singing "My Love!" Essential!
I like your list though sayne, very thorough. I would insist on Bob Dylan and Keith Richards.
I think there are younger songwriters who should be invited because they appreciate Paul. My beloved The Avett Brothers should be invited although in that "John or Paul" video they said "John."
Patti Harrison and Jane Asher need to come, they would add beauty and class to the affair. And come on gang, wouldn't it bring tears to all if Beatrice McCartney escorted her mother, Heather Mills, in to a front-row seat! Yoko Ono needs to be there, sitting next to Stella and Mary McCartney!

I'm sure Paul's already got it all planned.
"And you can say something sorta like this, Nancy.... Here I got it written down."

I'd add Ray Davies and Rod Stewart.
I'd add Little Richard but I don't think he'll outlive Paul. I'm not even sure what nick Richard is in these days, ditto for Chuck Berry.
Someone, no doubt, would play End of the End.

How did the old rocker purists view things when they saw the likes of Hail Hail Rock'n'Roll (the Keef Chuck Berry show)?
I was thinking it might be a bit similar with these new young guns singin Lennon stuff, until I realised that a lot of the old 50s guys had their careers kicked started by the likes of the Stones, Beatles and Kinks etc... They loved the new guard.
These new upstarts aren't bringing attention to some old guys who clean toilets for a living or paint ceilings...

Ringo would dig deep and do "Honey Don't" because "Paul loved Carl Perkins" Then he would certainly do "I Wanna Be your Man".

And how did we miss Stevie Wonder! I would hope he would do his funked up "We Can Work It Out" and not "Ebony And Ivory" or "What's That You're Doing."

Prediction; When the last Beatle dies, is when "Now & Then" will be released and go to #1.
