Don't imagine there are too many Motorhead fans here, but Lemmy was a huge Beatles fan. He even roadied for them. Here's a memory posted by friend of mine on his Facebook page: It was 1998 and we had just played a show at the Key Club. I was walking down Sunset Boulevard with my friend Ed on our way to the Rainbow before it closed. We saw Lemmy Kilmister walking towards us and he said, "You just played? I was just coming to see you." I could only guess that he recognized me from passing out flyers for our band (Cloud Nine) for the show the prior few weeks. He brought us back to the Rainbow, where he started buying us beers and pizza. After almost three hours there, with only a few people inside, he continued to talk to us. He spoke of being a roadie for both the Beatles and Jimi Hendrix in the 60s. He seemed insistent on giving me music advice and wanted to tell me the good, the bad, and anything he had learned. We listened intently knowing what a golden moment this was. I never saw him again and I will always remember his advice when he said, "Do what is in your heart and don't listen if anyone tells you differently." He was living proof that without ever achieving a song at the top of the charts, he had become a music icon and was financially well-off and very famous. Here are some clips of Lemmy with Beatles connections. Way cool! Notice how he went for the mono. He's always been reverential. I think John would have approved.

Julian posted a picture of him and Lemmy on Facebook. It wouldn't let me snag it so I went searching for it. All I found was this.

And of course, David Grohl had to give a eulogy for Lemmy as Grohl has replaced Sheryl Crow as the self-appointed ambassador of all Rock and Roll! Have a tribute concert, Grohl will be there. Have a music documentary, Grohl will tell how his mom had the record first and he would steal it from her. Who appointed him Rock spokesperson? Be kind. He actually is a good guy AND he does have bona fides AND he does RAWK. Could be a lot worse - John Mayer.

I hear you about Grohl and I liked him. But I am not the only commentator moaning about Grohl becoming a self-appointed Rock ambassador. I have actually seen it in print!

Didn't there used to be police monitoring to make sure we stayed on topic?
