We've seen this before, but not for a while. What is the best song on each album? I include the PAST MASTERS at the end so that the non-album singles and B-sides get included. Feel free to include honorable mentions for any songs you deem worthy.
PLEASE PLEASE ME-Please Please Me (honorable mention I Saw Her Standing There, Twist And Shout) WITH THE BEATLES-All My Loving (honorable mention It Won't Be Long) A HARD DAYS NIGHT-A Hard Days Night (honorable mention I'll Be Back) BEATLES FOR SALE-Eight Days A Week HELP-Yesterday (honorable mention Help, I've Just Seen A Face) RUBBER SOUL-In My Life (honorable mention Norwegian Wood, Nowhere Man) REVOLVER-Eleanor Rigby (honorable mention For No One, Tomorrow Never Knows, And Your Bird Can Sing, Taxman, Here There & Everywhere) SGT PEPPER-A Day In The Life (honorable mention Sgt. Pepper/With A Little Help From My Friends, Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds) MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR-Strawberry Fields Forever (honorable mention Penny Lane, I Am The Walrus, Fool On The Hill) THE WHITE ALBUM-Back In The USSR (honorable mention Dear Prudence, Blackbird) YELLOW SUBMARINE-Hey Bulldog ABBEY ROAD-Here Comes The Sun (honorable mention Something, Octopus Garden, Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End) LET IT BE-Let It Be (honorable mention Across The Universe, Two Of Us) PAST MASTERS VOL. 1-I Want To Hold Your Hand (honorable mention I Feel Fine) PAST MASTERS VOL 2-Hey Jude (honorable mention Paperback Writer, Rain, Revolution, Ballad Of John & Yoko)

MY BEST/FAVOURITES
It’s hard to pick just one best song from each album and then difficult again to know where to draw the line with the honourable mentions. Anyway, here’s my attempt.
Please Please Me – I Saw Her Standing There (honourable mention: There’s A Place)
With The Beatles – All My Loving (honourable mention: All I’ve Got To Do)
A Hard Day’s Night – And I Love Her (honourable mention: A Hard Day’s Night, If I Fell, Can’t Buy Me Love, Things We Said Today, I’ll Be Back)
Beatles For Sale – Rock And Roll Music (honourable mention: No Reply, Kansas City, What You’re Doing)
Help! – Help! (honourable mention: Ticket To Ride, I Need You, Yesterday)
Rubber Soul – In My Life (honourable mention: I’m Looking Through You, Girl)
Revolver – Eleanor Rigby (honourable mention: Tomorrow Never Knows, Taxman)
Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band – A Day In The Life (honourable mention: Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, Fixing A Hole, Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite)
Magical Mystery Tour – Penny Lane (honourable mention: I Am The Walrus, Strawberry Fields Forever, Baby You’re A Rich Man, Magical Mystery Tour)
The Beatles – While My Guitar Gently Weeps (honourable mention: Back In The USSR, Helter Skelter)
Yellow Submarine – Hey Bulldog (honourable mention: It’s All Too Much)
Abbey Road – Something (honourable mention: the medley, Come Together)
Let It Be – Let It Be (honourable mention: Get Back, Across The Universe)
Past Masters Vol. 1 – She Loves You (honourable mention: I Want To Hold Your Hand)
Past Masters Vol. 2 – We Can Work It Out (honourable mention: Revolution, Day Tripper, Hey Jude)

I know what you mean about "honorable mention". I could have listed a lot more. Pretty much I went with anything I might consider to be reasonably close to being as good as the best song on that album or as good as the best song on one of the other albums.

Once again, we see that most groups would have had quite a career if even the lowest of the "also rans" were theirs. Can you imagine having in your catalog There's a Place, It Won't Be Long, Things We Said Today, I've Just Seen a Face, Nowhere Man, Girl, Taxman, Lucy in the Sky, etc. Those alone would put one in the RRHF.

I think we should all come along now and pick apart each others' picks. We definitely wear different heads. We all like different things about the Beatles.
Take a Hard Days Night. The film is still great. It should be shown in all grade school classrooms. But the song is dated. It sounds so 1964 to me. As someone listening to it for the first time in 2016, I can't see what they would hear to latch on to.
Not that I listen to things in those terms, but I do move on.

OK, I'll argue with that for a start off. PPM and WTB both sound very dated 9and sounded dated when they were first released IMO), but AHDN - song and album - sound as fresh now as they did back in 1964.

I do notice that your picks do favor the Lennon lead vocal and are very much early Beatle sounding songs. Until A Day in the Life, these songs are not the songs that made people say the Beatles were changing the face of rock and roll. " PLEASE PLEASE ME - Ask Me Why WITH THE BEATLES - It Won't Be Long A HARD DAYS NIGHT - If I fell BEATLES FOR SALE - No Reply HELP - You're Going To Lose That Girl RUBBER SOUL - Nowhere Man REVOLVER - I'm only sleeping PAST MASTERS VOL. 1 - Yes It Is PAST MASTERS VOL 2 - Rain" With the exceptions of I'm Only Sleeping and Rain, if these were coming from a band today they would definitely be considered retro.

I might have agreed with this statement 48 hours ago but 24 hours ago I re-watched the DVD for the recently re-released 1 and thought that live version of AHDN from Paris(I believe) kicked major ass and was vibrant and fun and featured the two greatest Rockers out there, John and Paul! John in particular is on fire as he gestures over to Paul when it is his turn to sing lead. I had seen that clip before but yesterday watching it I had to jump out of my seat and boogie down like some of those French boys were in the audience! I thought "F_ _ _, that's Rock and Roll!" I did keep my clothes on, this wasn't The Mumbo Stomp afterall.

I honestly don't think I've ever thought about this topic before....
PLEASE PLEASE ME Twist and Shout
WITH THE BEATLES Roll Over Beethoven
A HARD DAYS NIGHT And I Love Her
BEATLES FOR SALE No Reply
HELP Yesterday
RUBBER SOUL I'm Looking Through You or In My Life
REVOLVER Eleanor Rigby
SGT PEPPER A Day In The Life
MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR Penny Lane (on the crappy original E.P, it'd be I Am The Walrus)
THE WHITE ALBUM Dear Prudence
YELLOW SUBMARINE All You Need Is Love (in fact, I've never listened to this album, so possibly 'March of the Meanies' is better...)
ABBEY ROAD Here Comes The Sun
LET IT BE Let It Be (but I prefer the single mix)

It is actually pretty good. Almost all songs I'd consider! Biggest exception is THE WHITE ALBUM. Not surprising since it seems many people have widely different ideas about what are the best songs (both a strength and weakness of the album I feel). Anyway, you don't have any of my top 4 WHITE ALBUM songs among the 7 that you list. My top 4 are Back In The USSR, Dear Prudence, Blackbird, and While My Guitar Gently Weeps. Of your honorable mentions, I think the Beatles Yer Blues is weak (Lennon did it much better in LOVE PEACE IN TORONTO and ROCK AND ROLL CIRCUS) and I can't stand the slow "Revolution 1". Also "Savoy Truffle" is average at best. Also I would no consider "She's A Woman" anywhere near the best on PAST MASTERS VOL. 1 (though I like your honorable mentions!)

Joking on the 'pick apart' part. I think we stay reasonably civil around here. I struggled with Past Masters 1. I would have gone with Love Me Do and She Loves You, probably the songs I have traditionally liked the most, but I think today they appeal to me more on a nostalgic level. I was looking for songs that strike me as music I would listen to today, songs I would like if I weren't a Beatles fan. "Hey listen to this" songs. I like I Feel Fine because it's fun to play on the guitar. It's the same riff played over and over but in different parts of the neck, the flat notes mixing it up just enough to keep it interesting. Playing it fast enough is the challenge. I could have went with Slow Down or Bad Boy just as easy. Nothing really struck me as an obvious choice. She's a Woman is different enough to hold my attention. Back in the USSR seems like another song I'm burnt out on. I forget how it sounds when I have my headphones on. It's a great, fun song. Dear Prudence seems so moody. It's great when I'm sitting down to listen to the whole album. Blackbird is fun on the guitar but it's too hard to play. While My Guitar is another moody song. It moans a little too much for me. I loved it when it had the mystic of having Clapton on it. Now I've grown a little tired of it. I listen to the Yer Blues version on Unsurpassed Masters. It has an Indian chant at the beginning but then is mostly the version on the album. The Circus version is the best. John even does the off -mike part. I love the slow Revolution from the countdown to the end. I always thought it was the normal version slowed down the way the guitar sounds. But now we know it came first. Savoy Truffle sounds like George is tearing into Paul, "We all know Ob La Di Bla Da but can you show me where you are". It rocks.

I think I oversimplified my critique here. It Won't Be Long, No Reply and Nowhere Man show growth and were ahead of their time. Later Beatle works made them seem old school but they were, for a brief time, very innovative.
