Last Night I was listening to the Sirius/XM Radio Satellite Radio Station Channel 6 in The States which is "60's on 6" at 11PM when Lou Simon does a talk show on 60's rock and he posed a quiz question on The Beatles;
Name 2 people who appeared on Beatles songs (on a Beatles recording) who also appeared on solo recording projects with all four Beatles after the break-up.
So I called in and got put on hold, and while I was waiting someone else got on the air and said Billy Preston was one, but Lou said no, that was wrong. I thought for sure Billy was one of the two, but then I thought, did Billy ever work on a solo project with Paul? Guess not according to Simon.
So finally I got put on the air and I said I had one for sure; Eric Clapton. Simon said yes, that is correct. Then I was stumped, so I said Harry Nilsson. Wrong, Nilsson was never on a Beatles record.
I had to turn the radio off, so I never found out who the other person was. All I could come up with possibly is George Martin? Is Martin on any Lennon solo project, or Harrison solo project?
Then I thought maybe Mick Jagger? He sang in the chorus on "All You Need Is Love" satellite broadcast. Did he work with all four on solo projects?
It's not any Beatle wives. Like Yoko.
Please chime in if I am missing someone obvious. I should know this, but I get brain farts at 60 years old now....

Definitely Billy Preston in you count the Concert for George, where Billy played with "solo" Paul on several songs. Eric Clapton yes George Martin-only if he worked with Giles on the WMGGW score. He scored Ringo's "I'm Yours" plus the original mix of It Don't Come Easy, and John's Grow Old. Elton John played with Paul at various live concerts, as well as George (Prince's Trust two consecutive years).

Not sure if "scoring" or "conducting" counts anyway...

Sorry, Jim Keltner never appeared on a Beatles recording. What about Nicky Hopkins?

Might Klaus Voorman be a possibility? Yes, I thought of him, but did he actually play on a Beatle song?

He played piano on Revolution. Not sure if he played with Paul solo. BINGO!! In addition to recording with the Beatles in 1968, Hopkins worked with each of the four when they went solo. Between 1970 and 1975, he appeared on many projects by John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, making key contributions to the critically acclaimed solo albums Imagine, Living in the Material World and Ringo. He worked only once with Paul McCartney, on the latter's 1989 album Flowers in the Dirt. Thank you markc!!! I didn't even know he was on Revolution!!
