In the midst of watching and listening to "George Fest." Not bad at all. I wasn't expecting that much given the roster, but they did a good job and haven't bent the music as much as you might think. Strange seeing "Weird Al" be serious doing "What Is Life." Here's the link in case you haven't ordered: amzn.to/1TEn3Ol

I am considering purchasing this. I didn't have a problem with the actual musicians lined-up. I must admit that the Weird Al presence turned me off a bit. To me that is as bad as having movie stars like Dan Aykroyd sing or TV host like Jimmy Fallon. Weird Al did do a parody back in 1987/1988 on "Got My Mind Set On You."

Here's my full review: www.examiner.com/review/review-george-fest-dvd-album-recall-lovely-tribute-full-of-harrison-s-spiritI saw Mitch Axelrod give a ho-hum review of the film on FB, but I liked it. It's not a wow-in -the-face type of thing, but it's very enjoyable. And as far as Weird Al goes, as a fan, I liked what he did. He says in an interview on the DVD he thought George wrote the "most twisted" songs in the Beatles. ("Happiness Is a Warm Gun"?) Funny coming from a guy who calls himself "weird."

Weird Al said George wrote "Happiness Is A Warm Gun?" This project just took a huge leap backwards in credibility!
I despair that Conan O'Brien sang the opening song! He is one of those wannabees that I despise. Stick to the jokes carrot-top, you ain't no real singer!

I was just using that as an example of a crazy Beatle song George didn't write. As for Conan, his song is on YouTube. The sound is better on the DVD and CD.

I can't think of a single reason why I would consider buying this. Not one.

I can't think of a single reason why I would consider buying this. Not one. Same here. But then again I felt the same way when a guy at work praised the CONCERT FOR GEORGE tribute. He strongly urged me to check it out and I reluctantly did. And that CONCERT FOR GEORGE is now (imo) one of the greatest!

I just had to relocate and am paying almost twice what I was paying for rent. I'm not as drawn to this project as a might had been a couple of months ago. Even though I am impressed by Conan's version of Old Brown Shoe, I'm just as apt to say, in the scheme of things, it sucks. Oh, and I need another dental implant too. I never cared for Spoon either.

This was a lot better than I expected. Nice jam at the end of Let it Down.
