Nice moment, and I don't have a problem with Zelig, er um, Dave Grohl, but I don't know why they just didn't get Paul to do it. He was in town recently for the Grammy Awards. Assuming he was still in town OR could have stayed in town for the Oscars, he should have been asked. I'm sure if they had asked him months ago during pre-production he would have done it.

LMFAO on the Zelig joke re Grohl! Good point though. This reminds me of the ReAct Now: Music & Relief broadcast for Hurricane Katrina, a storm particularly devastating to poor African Americans in New Orleans. Paul was announced as a featured guest. I was really expecting "Blackbird" for some reason, I thought it would be a poignant, positive and re-affirming statement from Macca. LOL, he instead chose to plug his new single "Fine Slime" which no one but us Beatles' geeks knew. But if specifically asked to do "Blackbird" Sunday night, I bet Paul would have jumped at the chance, as long as he could also plug his newest single!

Given that we don't know if he actually got asked or not and, if he was, what his reaction was and why, maybe we shouldn't make too many assumptions.
