It is official! Prince is dead!
For us Fab fans, here is Prince owning "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" at his and George's induction to the RRHF:

I always think of the Beatle connection. While My Guitar came to mind immediately.
I'm not the biggest Prince fan but I always thought he was good. He plays all the instruments of many of his albums. All I have is the three discs set The Hits/The B-sides.
My favorite songs: Little Red Corvette Kiss Cream 1999 Gett Off
I liked everything else but these are the songs that make me a fan.
All we know is he had flu-like symptoms?

I'd have to say this is as big as the Bowie loss. only 57. That's younger than me.
Prince was at the thing where Paul sang with Taylor Swift. Pre-Grammy/after Grammy party?
I just recently compared Paul's Ou est le Soleil with Prince's Cream. The same vibe.

I had lost track of him I am afraid to say in the last 25 years but the music industry is different these days and music delivery is different so even if I wasn't hearing Prince's new music, I had no doubt that he was still creative. It is like Paul McCartney, Paul has put out some really good stuff in the 2000's but only us Beatle freaks are hearing it. Same with Prince I figured.

I'm watching CNN right now. The commentator is talking about the after party for the Saturday Night Line Anniversary special where Paul and Taylor played together. He said they had all the instruments on stage and they asked if someone could come up and play bass. He says Paul McCartney got up to play (as in you randomly ask for a bass player and you get one of the greatest, famous bass players of all time). Taylor Swift, one of the hottest singers of the day, got up and sang with Paul. Much later that evening, there was a surge to the stage. It was Prince. Jay-z and Beyoncé came out from back stage. Finally a real star was on stage.

Paul has released a comment on Prince's passing:
"God Bless this creative giant. Thanks Prince. Love X Paul."

I can see the same vibe a bit but don't know if Paul's song had any influence on Prince's Cream song. I returned home today and heard the news. It's sad and my condolences to Prince's family and friends. This year has taken a heavy toll and we've lost a lot of talented people.

I've never heard of Prince saying anything about the Beatles, Paul.... Of course, he did play the While My Guitar guitar solo at the R&R HoF ceremony. His influences apparently were Motown and James Brown. But Paul did beat him to that funky vibe!

Wow, and Olivia almost nixed Prince from performing on "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" because Prince didn't know George! How f_ck_ng narrow minded! Petty and Lynne are twee compared to what Prince brought to the table on that song! As I wrote somewhere today, when I watched that RRHF video, I was screaming at the screen for Petty and Lynne to shut their whitebread mouths while Prince was shredding it on his guitar. Prince was genius on that song while Petty and Lynne were like a f-ing Beatles tribute band! I bet Dhani over-rode his overbearing mother as he looked thrilled when Prince stepped up and started to play.

Prince’s and David Bowie’s deaths sure have given me pause to think about how lucky us Beatles’ fans are that Ringo and Paul are still alive in their seventies, still doing live shows and still releasing new recorded music.
I only own a few Prince albums: 1999, Purple Rain and the three disc Hits/B-Sides set. I might pick up a couple more on the weekend.

Apparently Prince was doing prescription Percocet for a hip replacement he'd just had. No word if this was a factor in his death.

Paul has released a comment on Prince's passing: "God Bless this creative giant. Thanks Prince. Love X Paul." Paul later tweeted: " Saddened by Prince's death. Proud to have seen in the New Year with him. He seemed fine and played brilliantly funky music" Odd, Prince once sang "Don't let the elevator bring us down..." and that's were he was found dead. In an elevator.

It did in the 1980's! I forgot how Prince and Michael Jackson owned that decade! Yeah death is a high price to pay for posthumous #1s! I certainly don't want something to happen to Paul just so he finally gets a #1 again on the BILLBOARD Top 200 Album chart but I don't think that will happen even then. Prince has a larger demographic of fans.

Holy cow! Sinead O'Connor claims that Arsenio Hall supplied drugs to Prince! www.people.com/article/arsenio-hall-denies-sinead-oconnor-claims-princeSinead also says Hall spiked her drink with drugs years ago at Eddie Murphy's home! The brave, terrific Sinead wrote this on Facebook: "Sinead O'Connor 22 hours ago. Two words for the DEA investigating where prince got his drugs over the decades.... Arsenio Hall (AKA Prince's and Eddie Murphy's bitch) Anyone imagining prince was not a long time hard drug user is living in cloud cuckoo land. Arsenio I've reported you to the Carver County Sherrif's office. Expect their call. They are aware you spiked me years ago at Eddie murphy's house. You best get tidying your man cave." I call upon DEA to investigate Sinead O'Connor's claims! Justice for Prince!
