The one I most strongly agree with is 1985. A great song! Magnetto And Titanium Man I say yes if it is the WINGS OVER AMERICA version-that ROCKS!!! The studio version is just OK. Sing The Changes is very good. I like Biker Like An Icon, but if I'm going with a rocker from OFF THE GROUND, I'll take GET OUT OF MY WAY. Likewise From A Lover To A Friend is good, but if I'm picking a love song from DRIVING RAIN, I'll take Your Way. And I'd also add Riding To Jaipur from that album ss well. On My Way To Work is a fairly average song. The two I very much disagree with are Wild Life and Temporary Secretary. Wild Life is overly long-padded to fill out an 8 song slbum. Give me Tomorrow or Mumbo from WILD LIFE. Temporary Secretary I've seen get raves as being early techno. I find it mostly just annoying as heck-particularly the way Paul sings the title. Give me One Of These Days from MCCARTNEY II. In addition to the songs mentioned above, other songs I would add include: Ram On Single Pigeon Warm And Beautiful Don't Let It Bring You Down Daytime Nighttime Suffering Wanderlust This One Calico Skies Little Willow Some Days That Was Me

Nothing at all wrong with that. I'm not sure what my pick from the Fireman album would be. I like Nothing Too Much more than anything else. I never liked Biker. I'd go with Off the Ground or the better yet, the much overlooked Hope of Deliverance. Lonely Road is probably the most underrated from Driving Rain. A nice rocker that sounds good every time you hear it. The NEW album still hasn't really connected with me. There's no real all out rocker on it. Nothing to make me keep going back. I've never been that good of a fan of the song Wild Life. It could had used some extra guitar fills to make it more interesting. Mumbo or (the little long) Tomorrow are overlooked. I like Temporary Secretary's mention as underrated. It's gotten slightly known now that Paul has done it live. My favorite from McCartney II that never gets a mention is Nobody Knows, same "annoying" voice, but turned up a notch. I always try to imagine it with the Lady Madonna voice. That Was Me is my favorite from your list.

1985 - meh Magneto And Titanium Man - fun, but trivial Sing The Changes - meh Biker Like An Icon - meh GET OUT OF MY WAY - meh From A Lover To A Friend - meh Your Way - yes! The only actively good track on a meh album. Riding To Jaipur - meh On My Way To Work - so forgettable I've forgotten it. Wild Life - a tedious song stretched out to interminability. Awful. Temporary Secretary - see comments on Wild Life. Only worse. Tomorrow - tolerable song, awful arrangement and vocal Mumbo - rubbish One Of These Days - OK Ram On - fun but trivial Single Pigeon - fun but trivial Warm And Beautiful - yes Don't Let It Bring You Down - nearly but not quite Daytime Nighttime Suffering - YES!!!! Wanderlust - YES!!!! again This One - yes Calico Skies - yes Little Willow - yes Some Days - yes That Was Me - yes

I guess I would include it on a list of underrated since it should have been a top 40 hit, but stalled in the lower reaches of the charts. And as far as songs not doing well on the charts and being underrated, as a US listener, I would put Mull Of Kintyre on the top of my list!

It does nothing for me. I'm half Irish so the bagpipes really get to me. I love how the song builds from a simple guitar and vocal to a big production with the bagpipes. Seeing the videos helped too. I had no idea what a "Mull Of Kintyre" was. It is an actual beautiful place!

MoK offers something almost primal to a Brit, particularly of a certain age. And the bagpipes are a stroke of genius - I know they often seem to be a caterwauling racket but, in the appropriate context, they are supremely emotional (there is a piece called Highland Cathedral which brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it) and MoK taps effortlessly into this, particularly with the soaring key change which brings them in. Bagpipes are a more upfront element of historical musical culture in the UK than elsewhere in the world, and the first time I heard MoK it felt as if I'd always known it.

I know that all of us will have our own lists, but I thought is was interesting and pleasing to read an article that suggested that Paul ACTUALLY had some good songs that were worthy of being written by a former Beatle.

"Gratitude" from MAF is Paul's truly most under-appreciated songs

One of my sincerest sentiments. It is sonic scribble. I think that occasional "sonic scribble" from a genius artist who routinely has given us so much great "conventional music" is refreshing and a good thing. I love "Mumbo" ... we can already always return to the likes of "Hey Jude", "Yesterday", "For No One", "Here There And Everywhere" and "Maybe I'm Amazed" too.

I don't care for Maybe I'm Amazed, either. Clumsy chord structure, awkward melody, and a vocal which mistakes shrieking for emotion. Yuk.

So in other words it perfectly reflects the lost and troubled state of mind Paul was in mentally at the time. It's one of Paul's greatest songs, Vectis.. maybe the best and most deeply vulnerable song he ever wrote. Wow...

Yes, I know a lot of people rate it highly. I'm not one of them. I simply don't like it.

The original version from McCartney seems a bit choppy and perfunctorily produced, but the live version from Wings Over America is more seemless.

The original version from McCartney seems a bit choppy and perfunctorily produced, but the live version from Wings Over America is more seemless. In my residence hall House at I.U. in the very early 1980's, there were a group of guys really into music but not necessarily the Beatles. They swore though that live, WOA "Maybe I'm Amazed" was one of the greatest, most majestic Rock songs ever. But if I cranked the McCartney studio version they would get really hostile and yell to turn that off! You'd never know they LOVED the live version by such hostile reaction to the studio version. Their devotion though to the live version made me really appreciate it even more! In fact, I heard the live version first and it took me some time to accept and love the studio version.

McCartney is my second favorite McCartney album (sorry John, I like Band on the Run better). I love everything on it and consider these recordings as the best versions. Paul at his grungy, rounchy Let it Be era best. Admitted that Kampuchea Every Night is pretty crackin' good.

I think Sally G is underrated. Damn straight Winnie! "Sally G" is great McCartney, better than Paul even deserves because he does not realize how good it is! If he did it would be in his concert setlist before "Let It Rot" or "Hey Crud" or "The Long and Boring Whine," etc.

I think Sally G is underrated. It got a decent amount of airplay on my local station, but since that time I've rarely heard it. This is a song Paul should put on one of his collections. I actually do not have the song anywhere in my collection, not even a bootleg! If this was on PURE MCCARTNEY it might give me some incentive to purchase it (or put it on my Amazon "wish list" for someone else to buy me for a birthday or XMas gift! And relating to another comment, I first heard "Maybe I'm Amazed" on WINGS OVER AMERICA as well and had a bit of trobule with the rawness of the studio version at first as well. Now I like both versions. It is top 10 solo McCartney for sure!
