It's interesting that the Official Charts Company is presenting a list of the "individuals" with the most #1 UK albums, not acts. By their method the individual Beatles make up the first four places. Thus, even Ringo rates higher than Elvis, Madonna etc., even though he has had no number one under his own name.
Maybe they will add another to their tallies in September?

Taking the Beatles success out of the picture doesn't work either. Looking at all music sales, doing it that way has Prince, Neil Diamond and the Backstreet Boys above Paul McCartney in units sold. Paul comes in ranked about 48th in a list of all-time sales. Elton John, the top UK act after the Beatles, is number 5. (According to Wikipedia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_music_artists )

I thought the award was for UK performers in the UK.
