Here is an excerpt from a review of Donovan's recent concert in Colorado: Donovan, known for his extreme influence over the Beatles’ White Album, regaled fans with tales of Paul McCartney coming to his flat to ask for assistance with “Yellow Submarine,” tales of lost hash on beaches, and how he taught George Harrison to play the sitar. This is the first time I've heard of Donovan teaching George how to play the sitar. Is this new or something that has been known for a long time?

I have never read about a tie between Donovan and George's sitar playing!

Maybe Donovan thinks he's Ravi Shankar. I guess it's not enough to say he taught the Beatles finger picking for the White Album.

Hopefully it's not an early sign of dementia for the ageing Donovan.

Donovan was a great talent and a great singer, but frankly he has been embarrassing for many years now. He's still living in 1966 and thinks he and Bob Dylan were cultural gurus of equal importance.
Sounds like he's trying to up his 'cred' by ingratiating himself further into The Beatles' story.

Gypsy Dave's fingerpicking techniques on sitar. Sounds interesting.
