Excellent article, thanks for posting it sayne!
I enjoyed playing all the videos. While I probably have most of these on bootlegs, it is cool when the songs get the spotlight treatment in an article like this!

Pretty good choices, though the demo of "World Without Love" here is not the Beatles.
I also would definitely have Hello Little Girl" on the list ahead of any other Decca audition songs.
Really love :Bad To Me" sung by John. He has that quality that can make an average pop song sound like a long lost classic!

“The Palace of the King of the Birds” was really interesting to me! If I have that on a boot I've forgotten.
But I rather enjoyed it! And what a dramatic song title!

I had never heard that one until earlier this year. My brother sent me a link saying something like "This is what the Beatles would have sounded like if they wanted to be the Grateful Dead!"

This list is basically a who's who of songs left off Anthology. A few more Nagra recordings like several version's of ATMP and other tunes have been left out. I believe the World Without Love is a forgery designed to sound like a Beatle version. Paul's voice is close but no dice. Here is one they worked on quite a bit, with structure, but didn't seem to go past jamming.

(and yes, I know Pink Floyd recorded "Piper at the Gates of Dawn" at Abbey Road around the time the Beatles recorded Pepper!)
