Pretty simple: Make a 20 song "Best Of" from FLAMING PIE on: 1. Young Boy 2. Calico Skies 3. Little Willow 4. Somedays 5. Beautiful Night 6 Brown Eyed Handsome Man 7. Your Way 8. Riding To Jaipur 9. Fine Line 10. Jenny Wren 11. Too Much Rain 12. Dance Tonight 13. Ever Present Past 14. Only Mama Knows 15. That Was Me 16. The End Of The End 17. Sing The Changes 18. Save Us 19. New 20. Early Days

I attempted to do this a while back with an iTunes playlist, back when we were making our top twenty lists for each solo Beatle. It got way, way out of hand as I kept adding songs from the deluxe releases; new (to me) McCartney songs. It ballooned up to 202 songs.
I just created another playlist with all the pre-Pie songs removed and I'm down to 72 songs.
Your list is pretty good, coach. I'll try to get mine down to 20. I like all of your choices but I'd have to include Demon Dance, nothing too much, 222, Flaming Pie....
Oh, Oh, can we include Sir-vana? Cut Me Some Slack! Yeah!

Here's a fairly conventional offering:
1 The World Tonight 2 Somedays 3 Young Boy 4 Flaming Pie 5 Beautiful Night 6 No Other Baby 7 What It Is 8 Lonely Road 9 Fine Line 10 Jenny Wren 11 Too Much Rain 12 Riding To Vanity Fair 13 Ever Present Past 14 Only Mama Knows 15 That Was Me 16 Sing The Changes 17 My Valentine 18 New 19 Queenie Eye 20 Hope For The Future
There was plenty more I could have included. McCartney and his then record company should have released something along these lines, over two discs perhaps, instead of the 2 CD version of Pure McCartney, IMO.

I guess you could say, I've never been pro-football. I watch UofL games but that's about it. It's American Football, right? With the funny hats and the Dynasty style shoulder pads?

I have lately been moving it ahead of TUG OF WAR to #3 on my all time McCartney list behind just BAND ON THE RUN and RAM.

Interesting that you decided to involve the two live Harrison songs. I hadn’t thought of doing that. Several bonus tracks represented also. Used To Be Bad and If You Wanna are often identified as filler from the Flaming Pie album (though I love the former).

I like the differences we have. Songs I'd skip, have a flow in your list. I hadn't heard I Want You to Fly. It's really brilliant. I love it. A b-side to Jenny Wren. I started to pick it up on amazon. $29.00. Used. I wish I knew that Chaos was coming out in the Deluxe Archive series soon. Then I could pay $150 for it and feel good about it.

Coach, this is a great exercise but one that will cause me considerable thought and some late night weekend drinking!
I thought that Macca went on a tear starting with Flaming Pie really up to New although that album thrilled me less than all the previous offerings including Driving Rain.
Steve started the first version of this Message Board shortly after Driving Rain was released and before George Harrison passed away. I have been a leading DR advocate ever since!
I spent some time with Flaming Pie this weekend, the first time in maybe two years or more! It held up pretty damn well to me. "Somedays," "Calico Skies," "Little Willow" and "Beautiful Nights" are as good as Macca gets!
I will create my version of the Top 20 but all of the lists here have been good. Expect mine to be DR heavy!

Has anyone picked "Mr. Bellamy?" That one I rather dislike! I saw KC had "She's Given Up Talking" on his list. Not a dickey bird chance that that song will that appear on mine!
