We noblemen of Halifax We'll have you know for two brass tacks That we're much better than the likes of you And naught can beat us northern lads The spitting image of our dads Especially when we've had a pint or two

For those, like myself, who do not know the song, an out-take from Back to the Egg.
This is the extended version. I like it!

Thanks Debjorgo for posting the video as I have heard of the song's title before and may have it on some release or bootleg but for the life of me I was scratching my head at our friend Nine's post! I figured Niner was at the pub having a merry time!

Good lyrics those but man I hate when Paul uses his "funny voices" on songs, i.e., "Famous Groupies," and this song pulls out the plugs on Paul's "funny voices!" Thanks Debjorgo for posting the video as I have heard of the song's title before and may have it on some release or bootleg but for the life of me I was scratching my head at our friend Nine's post! I figured Niner was at the pub having a merry time! I quite like his funny voices. What about Coming Up, I'll Give You A Ring and 1985? Do you like them? Coming Up: Not really, as a Yank I am more familiar with the live version which was a #1 hit here, maybe Paul's last without the help of Stevie and Michael. The studio one never lit my fire. The record company was worried too as we got the live version inserted in the Macca II album as a one-sided 45 single! I'll Give You A Ring: Not really, I do not seek it out. 1985: Love it but I don't view that as a "funny voice" song, I view it as Paul rocking out at the piano. Man, one I hate is "Mr. Bellamy" with Paul doing all kinds of funny voices. Even a great song like "Rock Show" is marred when Paul does his mock-Glam Rock, "Well I fear my dear that its......" As Fabfour noted, Paul's current singing voice is a "funny voice" but it is sad really. I miss the Paul McCartney voice we all knew and loved from "Love Me Do" up to about "Chaos And Creation"(which was recorded after most of the songs on the later released "Memory Almost Full." Paul's voice is actually still really good on 2008's "Electric Arguments." It was the "Kiss My Ass" album where I felt we had lost Paul McCartney of our youth.

Never ever liked Coming Up live or studio. Trite, boring, more simplistic than Get Back or Hello Goodbye if that is possible. How THAT song made no. 1 I'll never know. I did like the video though. Funny thing is many would say the same about "With a Little Luck" and it remains to me one of my all-time Paul Favorites. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

When it comes to lyrics, I still think John was King. #1 - Imagine #2 - In My Life
#3 -Putting the lyric "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans" in his song "Beautiful Boy." (Only a few months before he was taken from us).
Paul is the King of melody.
Hence Lennon/McCartney worked so well.

Even a great song like "Rock Show" is marred when Paul does his mock-Glam Rock, "Well I fear my dear that its......" Wow, major brain-fart on my part but Paul's "funny voices" songs have me all shook up! The line I quoted is from "The Pound Is Sinking" but it is my same point, a great song like that is marred by the, "Well I fear my dear..." "Rock Show" has the mock-Glam Rock, "In my green metal suit I'm preparing to shoot up the city." That is not so bad as the quoted bit from "The Pound Is Sinking." Dear vectisfabber, I can cut Paul some slack on "Uncle Albert" because that was his first time doing that, making "funny voices." Had he stopped then and there, we could all get naked, hold hands and sing "Kumbaya!"

I like the line "I go back so far I'm in front of me." Unfortunately the rest of The World Tonight's lyrics aren't as good.

Paul's best lyric; "And in the end, the love you take, is equal to the love you make."
Is there a better lyric anywhere to close out the greatest band's career?

Personally I like best from Paul: "Why don't we do it in the road? Why don't we do it in the road? Why don't we do it in the road? No one will be watching us, why don't we do it in the road!" I also love the lyrics to "Mumbo" but forgive me if I cannot adequately transcribe them!

I think if you knew the lyrics to Mumbo it might be a disappointment. Keep the mystery Paul, do not include a lyric sheet with the re-issue whenever or if ever it comes out.

Ain't no reason It has to do that It's the season of the culture bat.
