Scott Freiman, a Beatles expert from Pleasantville, NY has produced four roughly 90 minute documentary style lecture films on four of The Beatles Albums (Rubber Soul, Revolver, Pepper, & White Album) where he deconstructs and discusses the albums song by song. The film is basically a filmed lecture he gives in front of an audience talking in detail about the albums. Since his film and lecture is classified as educational, and not entertainment, he can include actual old film clips, and voice interviews with the band, as well as playing the music discussed, including breaking down and playing the takes and mixes that exist of each track on the albums without having to pay any royalties and/or getting permission from Apple or Sony. Has Steve posted any info on this guy? Seen any of the films? I missed it if he did. I saw his film on "Deconstructing Revolver" last night at a movie theatre in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It was really enjoyable and for Beatle fans almost a must. He really knows his stuff and makes the lecture very interesting. The four films were produced earlier this year, and are currently playing throughout North America this summer in various theatres willing to air them. A schedule of theatres showing them is on the website I am posting I believe. His "Deconstructing The White Album" film will air up here on July 18, so hoping to see that as well. Really worth the price of the movie ticket. Little tidbit I learned last night. He aired the brief little video The Beatles taped in 1966 to air on an Ed Sullivan Show introducing their new singles Paperback Writer and Rain, done during the recording period of Revolver.. In it, just as Ringo finishes the intro leading into the promotional video for Rain, you see Paul hold up a piece of clear plastic to his face for a brief second before the film goes to the video. Scott freezes the moment Paul has the plastic in front of his face in the film. In the plastic you can see a reflection of the Butcher Album pictures that were going to go on their new US Capitol album "Yesterday & Today". Scott conjectures they must have had them spread out in front of them prior to shooting this video as they were considering which one to put on the new US album about to be released. And the plastic on Paul's face picked up their reflection. www.beatleslectures.com/about-lectures/

Don't miss the tabs on the top right. There are trailers for each presentation. (No beatle music in the trailers)

I'm guessing a lot of fans knew this already (I did) but depending on when this bit of video was shot, I'm not positive that they had the negatives spread out for considering the photos for the "Yesterday & Today" cover at that point. Originally the photos were randomly shot along with several other "surreal" themes (like one Beatle hammering a nail into another's head), and it was only later that the idea came up to use the butcher session for an LP cover. But it would be cool if they were preparing the "Yesterday & Today" jacket when this video was shot. Is there a date?

When did Capitol in their Scranton, Pa. plant start making the Butcher covers for the Capitol album that were later recalled? I recall Scranton was the only location Capitol produced the Butcher covers before they were halted and changed to the steamer trunk photo and pasted over.

Had it peeled about 15 years ago, and my Butcher cover now hangs framed in my home.

Attention MikeV; They are showing one of the Deconstructing Beatles lecture films on the Pepper album tomorrow at the Showroom Movie Theatre in Asbury Park, NJ. Wish I was home. I'd go. But in Canada at the moment.

The four films; 1) Sgt. Pepper (Oct.9), 2) White Album (Oct.16), 3) Rubber Soul (Oct.23), 4) Revolver (Oct.30) will be shown at the Showroom Theatre in Asbury Park, NJ on successive Monday evenings in October. If you are in Metro NY area you might be interested. From NYC, you can take a NJ Transit train directly to Asbury Park (Jersey Coast Line) and walk to the theatre. It is about one long block from train station. Saw Revolver film in Canada this summer. Highly recommend them. Plan to catch Rubber Soul one. Out of town for other two.

They just notified me that they already shipped my four DVD's to me, even though Oct. 10 is the official release date. AND they just sent me a link to stream them free on my devices for one year as a thank you for ordering the disks.
