My wife Linda and I attended Paul McCartney's first show of the East Coast run of his One To One tour at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ on September 11, 2017. Our seats were originally up in the nosebleed section near the stage and decided to make the best of it. We got to our seats early to scope out the view when a gentleman from Prudential approached us and asked if we like our seats. I said they were ok but it would be nice if we were down on the floor. He then told us to follow him and pointed out a female employee and tell her that he sent us. The woman then gave us upgraded seats on the floor, 20 rows from center stage! To say we were thrilled is an understatement. We also ran into Rick Glover who had attended over 160 Macca shows.
Paul and the band put on a great show, and being so close made it an even more memorable experience. Paul's voice was rough at times, but his incredible, personable energy and the spectacle of the show more than made up for any vocal deficiencies. 9/11 was respectfully remembered and several police and firefighters were given VIP seating and everyone applauded them.
This was definitely the best Paul McCartney concert experience I've had since seeing him for the first time on the Wings Over America tour in 1976.
A great night Linda and I will always remember!

I will be attending tonight's show there just across the street from my office.

He'd have to call Eric to come in to do the solo.

Sadly no, it would have been appropriate if he did and I don't think I was the only one disappointed that he didn't perform it.

I am tickled that OldFred and MikeV enjoyed the concert!
I greatly enjoyed seeing Paul way back in late July in Chicago(a suburb) and I have accepted that Paul's singing voice(hell even his talking voice) is not what it was which was nearly record-perfect live in the old days but I think Paul now accepts that which I don't think he did from 2005 through just recently as now he uses lots of help from his band and he seems to be just out there to have fun and his concert is one big karaoke sing-along!
Paul would have great problems if the audience were quiet and seated all show like Bob Dylan's fans were in the early to mid-1960's because then his voice would be the focus. Now he can pull that off on a couple songs like "Yesterday" or "Here Today" but everything else is one big karaoke sing-along so his voice is not so important, Paul is leading all of us in singing but just as the most prominent of us all.
Coming to terms that Paul can no longer sound live like the records, I had more fun this time seeing Paul than I have had since 2002 when I thought that he was still singing really well.

Funny thing is that he sang most of the screaming rockers great...it was the ballads that his voice cracked like Joe Theismann's leg under Lawrence Taylor.
