There has to be tape of George and Tom playing together in LA or Friar Park!

Wow, to add to the pain many of us are still feeling from Tom Petty's death, it was revealed that Tom died of an accidental overdose of several different pain medications to address a series of health issues including a fractured hip: www.billboard.com/articles/columns/rock/8095227/tom-petty-cause-death-accidental-overdoseWhat this means is that this death was preventable and Tom Petty should still be with us. It may have resulted in cardiac arrest but this was not just a sudden, unpreventable heart attack. First Prince now Petty. This is also happening to millions of Americans who are just plain ordinary folks. A year ago right now I was recovering from surgery to repair a broken arm and I was given first Hydrocodone and after the surgery the stronger Oxycodone and while it gave me relief, it clearly impairs one and is obviously addictive and I gave it all up before I was even required to because I was scared of it. I would rather have the pain. I am so upset and even mad about this. A lot of balls were dropped and yes, it started with Tom Petty himself and his family. What the fuck, you don't let someone you love routinely take a cocktail of painkillers like that and just say like his family is now, he was in so much pain "because he wanted to tour and please his fans!" Petty's Doctors also dropped the ball. To quote John Lennon from "The Luck Of The Irish:" "Goddamn, goddamn!"

If I'm in pain, give me the pills. The problem is, say you have a tooth pulled, you have strong agonizing pain for one or two days. You need about 8 pills. They give you 18.
There is no way a doctor should have allowed him to tour with a fractured hip. He should have been given an ultimatum. Stop the tour and repair the hip or the pills go away. He could have gotten the pills through other means but at least then he would not have od'ed on 'prescription' drugs.
Chances are, he was intent on having the drugs. People will break an arm to get them. Petty had a heroin habit in the past.
Bad Joke: At least he died doing what he loved.
What I don't understand at all is Petty having prescription fentanyl. Why would anyone need a drug 25 times the potency of heroin?

I agree, no the show does not have to go on! If you have a broken hip you get it treated. Your fentanyl remark is a good one! What the hell! I know, his daughter loves him and wants to defend him but her essentially saying that he was a badass and died doing what he loves is rather short-sighted and now she doesn't have a dad. I always admired John Lennon saying screw burning out, it was better to fade away. He wasn't allowed that. Tom Petty had that opportunity and he, his family and doctors really screwed that up! I am just so pissed off about this because this tragic death of Tom Petty need not have happened as it did.

Michael Jackson's doctor, Prince's doctor, Tom Petty's doctor. All did the same thing. Not judging, for I've never been in so much excruciating pain. But, what's the alternative. Kurt Cobain found another solution for his physical pain. Six of one . . .

All of those deaths were preventable. I am not blaming the doctors entirely although it does seem that patients who are Rock Stars get different treatment than the rest.
This is a crisis though in America and elsewhere.

This is a crisis though in America and elsewhere. Glen Frey died from complications of ulcerative colitis, an auto-immune disease which I also have. Another one that possibly could have been avoided with the right care.
